Allianz is seeking a senior sustainability leader to drive climate mitigation and the company’s Net-Zero transition efforts. You will shape our climate strategy, coordinate with multiple groups, and translate sustainability ambitions into measurable business outcomes.

You will engage with internal and external stakeholders, manage cross-functional programs, and leverage data analytics to identify growth opportunities while ensuring alignment with regulatory frameworks.

Who will you join?

As part of Global Sustainability (GS) at Allianz, you will join an international team of sustainability and business experts and work in the team responsible for Sustainability Integration and Climate change mitigation. The team works with all Allianz business segments on strategic Sustainability priorities.

In this role, you will drive the implementation of Allianz's sustainability strategy, with a particular focus on climate change mitigation, and sustainability-related growth opportunities. Working across Group Centers, Operating Entities and business segments, you will support the delivery of Allianz's Net-Zero Transition Plan and related sustainability commitments, ensuring effective coordination, stakeholder engagement and execution. The role combines strategic thinking, business engagement and strong delivery to translate sustainability ambitions into tangible business outcomes and support long-term value creation.

How can you make an impact?

• Climate Mitigation Strategy: Shape and strengthen the further development of the climate mitigation strategy as part of the overall Allianz Group Sustainability strategy in close collaboration with Business and Group functions, taking into account Allianz's commitments (e.g. Net-Zero Transition Plan), technological, political & regulatory developments, as well as external stakeholder requirements
• 2030 intermediate targets: Contribute to the strategy delivery incl. implementation of related 2030 intermediate targets (with particular focus on Proprietary Investments and Asset Management) and strategic initiatives required to achieve them
• Link to wider Climate Strategy: Support integration of climate mitigation & adaptation efforts in close collaboration with teams within/outside of GS, as well as identify, set up and leverage relevant external partnerships to strengthen the wider Sustainability/ climate ecosystem
• Growth Strategy: Shape and contribute to the Sustainability/ climate growth strategy and related initiatives together with the wider GS function, as well as Business / OE stakeholders (mainly Proprietary Investments and/ or Asset Management) to strengthen business impact
• Cross-Functional Orchestration: Support in delivering on the GS mandate for orchestrating consistent and impactful sustainability action across the entire organization by acting as interface between GS, Group Centers, Business Divisions / OEs and other decision-making committees at Allianz SE on sustainability matters
• Stakeholder Engagement: Contribute to engagement with a diverse group of internal and external stakeholders (e.g. NGOs, investors, customers, media, external partners), incl. governance bodies to drive consistent and impactful sustainability action across Allianz
• OE engagement on Business Value & Impact: Actively engage with and support Allianz Operating Entities in driving value and impact of sustainability initiatives for the business
• Climate Research & Benchmarking: Conduct analytical research, benchmarking and data-driven assessments to support strategic decision-making, including using AI/ advanced data analytics; translate external developments and best practices into key insights for internal decision-making

What are you made of?

Minimum Qualifications

• At least 8-10 years of professional work experience
• Solid work experience and track record related to Allianz Proprietary Investments and/or Asset Management business (preferably from working in core business function)
• Solid understanding of Group Sustainability strategy with a focus on climate/ decarbonization
• Solid understanding of Sustainability/ climate strategy/ regulatory frameworks (e.g. Net-Zero methodologies, EU Taxonomy/ CSRD, Paris-aligned targets), decarbonization pathways, and sustainable finance
• Proven track record of translating sustainability commitments into commercially viable initiatives and measurable business outcomes would be preferred
• Experience leading cross-functional projects and influencing senior stakeholders without direct authority
• Ability to develop strategic positioning and communication with multiple internal and external stakeholders
• Excellent ability and experience in managing autonomously multiple projects and timelines
• Excellent ability to think and act independently, to quickly adapt to new problem settings and situations, with a focus on problem-solving skills
• Proactive, flexible and energetic team player with a strong interest in sustainability issues, environmental problems and societal concerns
• High attention to detail and ability to work on different work-streams, topics and teams at the same time
• Ability to perform in a dynamic, changing environment
• Strong verbal and written communication skills in English

Preferred Qualifications

• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook)
• Excellent presentation and interpersonal skills
• International experience is an asset
• MBA or Masters Degree
• Previous experience in insurance or asset management business functions, consulting, digital / tech is a plus
• Experience applying ChatGPT, Generative AI, and Ethical AI solution
