Job Description

As a Senior Software Test Engineer at Rockwell Automation, you will participate in testing activities for industry-leading Manufacturing Execution System (MES) products integrated with machine automation, control systems, and ERP software.

Your responsibilities include:

1. Participating in product requirements development, architectural design of automated test systems, effort estimation, design, coding, and verification of automated test systems throughout the software development lifecycle.
2. Collaborating with global cross-functional teams in an international environment that values open communication, honesty, and respect.
3. Reporting to your manager in Karlsruhe, Germany, with a hybrid work schedule in Karlsruhe.

Responsibilities:

• Focus on test automation and test strategy for MES software products.
• Utilize modern continuous integration and development tools, promoting continuous improvement.
• Participate in a team within the (SAFe) Agile Framework and promote Agile practices.
• Develop test designs, implement and execute tests, and maintain documentation.
• Review documents, test designs, and test cases as part of the software quality process.
• Monitor test results and report defects.
• Analyze functional and system requirements to verify added or changed functionality.

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or equivalent knowledge of software engineering principles and testing strategies.
• At least 5 years of experience in software testing within a software product development environment.
• Experience with test strategies, automation using Java, and scripting languages such as Selenium, Playwright, and Marathon.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Proficiency with test management tools (e.g., qTest).
• Understanding of system requirements.
• Experience with cloud technologies, containerization, virtualized environments, and load balancing/sharing.
• Knowledge of CI/CD principles.
• Familiarity with development tools (Eclipse, GitLab, JUnit, JIRA, Jenkins, ANT, Maven).
• Database skills (SQL Server, Oracle).
• Domain knowledge in regulated industries and MES applications.
• Experience working with globally distributed teams.
• Proficiency in English and German.
