Huawei's Ohm Research Center in Nuremberg seeks a Distributed Solar PV/BESS Power Conversion Expert to drive technology roadmap development for next-generation PV/BESS architectures and converter structures, including single/three-phase inverters and energy storage systems.

You will lead research and development of novel power conversion architectures, collaborate with external institutes and universities, and mentor staff while representing Huawei at international conferences.

Qualifikationen

• PhD in power electronics or related field with relevant post-PhD experience preferred.
• Deep knowledge of inverter topologies, modulation and control algorithms.
• Excellent command of English; international experience preferred.

Huawei's Ohm Research Center (Nuremberg) is responsible for Advanced Technology Research, Architecture Evolution Design and Strategic Technology Planning. Huawei Digital Power is a business unit within Huawei that provides Enterprise & Industry customers, products and solutions like clean power generation, transportation electrification, site power facilities, data center facilities, and embedded power. Power Conversion Technology Laboratory within Huawei’s Ohms Research Center in Nuremberg is responsible for Advanced Digital Power Technology Research, Architecture Evolution Design and Strategic Technology Planning, and plays an important role in the Huawei Digital Power business in the design and development of power converters and control systems for applications such as PV Solar & Battery Energy Storage Field, Data Centers, Electric Vehicle, and Embedded Power Supply.

Now we are looking for an Solar PV/BESS expert with strong knowledge on Power Electronics Technology, system and hardware design, and control. In this position you will be responsible for leading and executing the technology roadmap development for next generation distributed Solar PV/BESS architecture and converter structures including different product forms, such as single-phase/three-phase inverter, energy storage DCDC & inverter system.

Distributed Solar PV/BESS Power Conversion Expert (m/f/d)

Your mission

• Proactively engage with internal and external stakeholders to identify and refine technical requirements in key products in the domains in Digital Power Business.
• Support in technology roadmap development for next generation Solar PV/BESS solutions (BESS) and converter structures including different product forms, such as single-phase/three-phase inverter, energy storage system.
• Lead and execute the research and development of novel Power Conversion architecture and solutions for future Solar PV & BESS applications.
• Work with external R&D institutes and Universities on collaboration projects for developing novel power converter and associated control algorithms for relevant applications of Huawei Digital Power Product Line.
• Lead and execute the parameter design, component layout, prototype build-up and subsequent verification and validation of novel converter concepts in the R&D laboratories.
• Generate novel ideas and protect them with IPR fillings.
• Participate international conferences/exhibitions of power electronics community representing Huawei for external communications.
• Occasionally traveling to Huawei China for internal communications and cooperation.
• Mentor less experienced staff members.

Your areas of expertise

• PhD in the field of power electronics, in electrical and electronic engineering or power engineering plus relevant work experience after the university degree, rich experience in PV/BESS industry is better.
• Deep insights into technology trends and can contribute competitive ideas to achieve a top technical performance.
• Deep knowledge of inverter topologies, modulation and control algorithm, and magnetic simulation tools.
• Good theoretical understanding of basic power electronic converter principles and multi-level converters, magnetic component designs, power semiconductor devices such as wide band gap devices, and power converter control.
• Highly motivated and interested in innovative solutions and technologies along with willingness to lead technical R&D activities.
• High-level self-reliance, autonomous and target-oriented work style with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Professional-level working proficiency in English, and prior international and multicultural work experience is highly preferred.
