Join the RWE Renewables team as Sr. Electrical Engineer supporting onshore wind and PV projects in Germany and help us shape the future of renewable energy.
The Project Engineering Germany department provides the technical support and technical expertise in the development, construction and during the operation of our wind farms in the specialist areas of Resource Assessment, Site Suitability, Civil and Electrical Engineering.

• As a Sr. Electrical Project Engineer you will support and manage projects from development, construction to handover to operations management with the following responsibilities:
• Responsible for robust and optimised electrical design for onshore wind and PV projects connected to the medium, high or extra-high voltage grid.
• Responsible for all aspects relating to transmission, distribution and feeding into the public grid.
• Carrying out load flow and short circuit calculations with PowerFactory.
• Preparing grid connection applications with the grid operators for our renewable generation plants.
• Collaboration and coordination with internal stakeholders such as I&C, Development, Construction and Operations.
• Preparation of tender documents for eBop components such as substations, transfer stations as well as cable ground works and negotiation of technical topics with suppliers.
• Responsible for commissioning, supervision and coordination of external service providers.
• Accompaniment of the projects in the construction phase with construction site deadlines until commissioning.
• Responsible for the certification process according to FGW-TR8 and VDE-AR-N 4110/4120/4130 from the commissioning of the plant certificate to the preparation of the declaration of conformity.

Your profile

• Successfully completed university degree or comparable professional experience in electrical power supply or comparable.
• At least 5 years of experience in designing medium or high voltage systems, ideally experience in designing grid connections for renewable energy generation systems to the public grid.
• Knowledge of relevant network calculation software such as PowerFactory (load flow, short circuit, protection, RMS and EMT simulations) required, further software knowledge such as PSS/E, PSCAD is an advantage.
• Good understanding of the German transmission and distribution network.
• Good understanding of the relevant standards such as VDE-AR-N 4110/4120/4130 and technical guidelines of the FGW.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in dealing with people at different hierarchical levels.
• Good Project management skills, ability to work in a team and interest in interdisciplinary tasks, combined with the ability to build sustainable working relationships in project teams across regions and functions.
• Business fluent in German and good English skills.
• Valid driving licence and willingness to travel within Germany, usually for one day.
