Responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring compliance with German occupational safety laws, regulations, and company policies.
  • Implementing safety programs such as Lockout Tagout, fall protection, fire safety, emergency procedures, and evacuation.
  • Developing and conducting safety training programs.
  • Developing and maintaining ergonomic, manual handling, and workplace design programs.
  • Handling formalities for legal compliance and reporting.
  • Analyzing accidents and statistics to develop prevention programs.
  • Promoting safety engagement among management and staff, fostering a safety culture.
  • Conducting risk assessments for new processes and machinery.
  • Reviewing changes in standard procedures and providing safety recommendations.
  • Updating existing risk assessments.
  • Collaborating with local fire departments, safety authorities, and trade associations.
  • Working with the works council as per §9 ASiG.
  • Managing incident investigations and reporting.
  • Auditing processes for safety compliance.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification according to the European Qualifications Framework (EQF), preferably in a technical or safety-related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Qualified safety specialist according to §6 ASiG or DGUV V2.
  • Several years of experience in occupational safety.
  • Experience in team building and leadership.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and teamwork skills.
  • Good analytical and judgment skills.
  • Customer-oriented mindset.
  • Proficiency in German and English.
  • Independent and responsible working style.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Lean, 5S, or Kaizen methodologies.
  • Qualifications or experience in environmental protection measures.

A day in the life

As a Workplace Health & Safety (WHS) Manager, you will oversee the safety department at our logistics site, working closely with local management to improve safety standards and ensure compliance with internal and legal safety requirements. You will report to the WHS Regional Manager in Germany.
