As the Senior Director Customs Compliance & Risk Management you will advise and direct the DHL Express Customs Germany country organizations to ensure adherence to all external laws and regulations in the area of customs and external trade as well as compliance with internal DHL Group standards and policies.

YOUR KEY TASKS

Leadership and Management:

• Oversee the Customs Compliance & Regulatory Affairs and Customs Compliance Management teams (team with 50+ FTEs)
• Advise Senior Management (C-level) and Operational Customs teams on compliance risks & mitigation actions
• Ensure Customs Compliance roles are appointed, updated, and equipped

Stakeholder Engagement and Communication:

• Lead discussions on all levels with Customs Authorities & drive close engagement
• Maintain a thorough understanding of customs and external trade regulatory requirements and inform stakeholders of DHL relevant changes
• Lead the DHL Customs Compliance Board for Germany, ensuring awareness of legal changes and compliance gaps on top management level
• Act as the go-to-person for major legal customs compliance questions

Risk Management and Legal Compliance:

• Advise on compliance risks and drive the risk mitigation measures
• Manage all customs licenses and authorizations for Customs Germany, reporting risks related to operating licenses

Compliance Framework and Standards:

• Deploy DHL's global customs compliance framework across Germany
• Ensure adherence to internal & external customs compliance standards
• Implement and maintain a Customs Compliance Management System and conduct internal audits
  

Training and Development:

• Establish a high-level framework for customs and external trade training for Germany
• Lead teams in implementing customs compliance programs
  

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Master's degree with extensive professional experience in Customs and external trade legislation
• Proven success in developing customs compliance and risk management frameworks in multinational companies
• Demonstrated people leadership skills
• Excellent communication skills in English and German
• Understanding of Logistics/Express business
• Strong relationships with government and regulatory bodies
