ABOUT THE JOB

At MIKUTA, design is at the heart of our brand’s timeless, minimalistic, and rock-inspired style. As our new Senior Designer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping our collections, with a focus on jersey and knitwear. Collaborating closely with the Head of Design and Creative Director, you will transform creative ideas into tangible, high-quality products that align with MIKUTA’s brand identity.

You’ll be responsible for the full design process — from concept to final prototype — working in close partnership with our product development, purchasing, and garment technology teams. Your graphic design expertise will add depth to our collections, while your insight into fashion trends will keep MIKUTA’s designs fresh and relevant.

This role is based in our Berlin office, where you’ll be part of a passionate team dedicated to redefining fashion.

Key Responsibilities

• Design & Concept Development: Develop and design collections with a specific focus on jersey and knitwear, ensuring alignment with MIKUTA’s brand identity and seasonal concepts.

• Collaborative Creation: Partner with the design team to create mood boards, concepts, and initial designs that bring ideas to life.

• Technical Design & Integration: Create technical drawings and BOM (Bill of Materials) within the PLM system to ensure design intent is translated into production-ready specifications.

• Product Development: Collaborate closely with product development, garment technicians, and purchasing teams to finalize product fit, materials, and prototypes.

• Quality Assurance: Ensure all designs meet MIKUTA’s standards for quality, functionality, and design integrity.

• Graphic Design for Print: Utilize graphic design skills to create compelling prints and surface designs for our jersey collections.

• Trend Research & Innovation: Stay ahead of emerging fashion trends, new technologies, and innovative materials, incorporating these insights into the design process.

• Team Collaboration: Work closely with the Head of Design and Creative Director to ensure the collection’s presentation is cohesive and aligned with MIKUTA’s creative vision.

ABOUT YOU

• Education & Experience: A degree in Fashion Design, Graphic Design, or a related field.

• Specialized Expertise: Proven experience in designing jersey and knitwear, with a portfolio that showcases your creative range and craftsmanship.

• Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in design software, including Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. Experience with PLM systems is a must.

• Attention to Detail: A sharp eye for detail and a passion for high-quality design and construction.

• Innovative Mindset: An innovative thinker with a modern aesthetic sensibility and a passion for timeless design.

• Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with exceptional time management and organizational skills.

• Collaborative Spirit: A team player with strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.

• Technical Knowledge: Solid understanding of knitwear and jersey production, including fabric properties, manufacturing techniques, and technical design.

• Illustration & Print Design: Strong illustration skills and graphic design capabilities, particularly in textile design.
