Join Klim - Revolutionize Agriculture and Fight Climate Change

At Klim, we're creating a joint movement with farmers and businesses to make regenerative agriculture scalable and impactful. As a Berlin-based AgriTech start-up, we're empowering farmers to restore soil, boost biodiversity, and capture carbon—all while earning revenue through our platform.

Backed by $22 million in Series A funding, we're expanding globally, partnering with major food industry leaders like Nestlé and Kaufland to help them reduce emissions along their supply chains, while making them more resilient and profitable. Since 2020, we've supported 3,500 farmers, covering 700,000 hectares (5% of Germany's farmland).

If you're passionate about building a sustainable food system and driving real climate impact, join us and help create a healthier planet!

About the Role

At Klim, we are revolutionizing agriculture by empowering farmers to adopt regenerative practices and contribute to a sustainable future. A critical component of our mission is developing accurate and robust SOC/carbon models, which drive the creation of our advanced data products to support farmers in their transition to regenerative agriculture.

To strengthen our modeling capabilities, we are seeking a Data Scientist with extensive expertise in SOC/carbon modeling to join our team.

Your Responsibilities
  1. Analyze and enhance our internal sequestration and environmental models to ensure robustness, accuracy, and scalability.
  2. Support decision-making on how to meaningfully improve our carbon model using different soil science models (e.g., Bodium) and enhance existing models.
  3. Assess and identify opportunities for data science applications, data products, and automation.
  4. Build robust, scalable data models to support ML systems and improve data accessibility.
  5. Collaborate with agronomists, engineers, and product teams.
  6. Stay informed on the latest trends and advancements in data science and environmental modeling.
Your Profile
  1. Advanced degree (MSc or PhD) in Data Science, Environmental Science, Agronomy, Computer Science, or related fields.
  2. Proven experience in developing environmental models, especially SOC/sequestration modeling; familiarity with RothC is a plus.
  3. Deep knowledge of agronomy and agricultural topics.
  4. Proficiency in Python and SQL, with experience in ML frameworks like PyTorch and scikit-learn.
  5. Experience working with engineering and product teams, including version control (e.g., Git).
  6. Ability to translate business needs into quantitative solutions and communicate insights clearly.
  7. Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  8. Experience with large-scale geospatial and sensor data; remote sensing familiarity is a plus.
  9. Proficiency in English; German language skills are a plus.
Benefits
  1. Impact: Contribute actively to combating climate change, promoting consumer education, and supporting climate-conscious farmers.
  2. Autonomy: Take ownership of projects with creative freedom.
  3. Competitive package: Salary and participation in our VSIP program.
  4. Flexible work model: Hybrid/remote within Germany, preferably in Berlin.
  5. Additional benefits: Memberships, team lunches, and team events.

We value diversity and are committed to an inclusive environment. We encourage all qualified candidates to apply, even if you don't meet every requirement—your unique strengths might be a perfect fit!
