Role Overview
We're seeking an experienced Data Scientist / Research Engineer to develop and validate sophisticated signal processing algorithms which convert multi-sensor data into precise cardiovascular measurements. This role combines signal processing expertise, data analysis, machine learning and algorithm development in a unique medical technology context. You'll work closely with medical professionals to ensure our algorithms capture clinically relevant parameters with the required precision.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement novel signal processing algorithms for extracting medical parameters from various sensor inputs
- Analyze and validate algorithm performance using clinical study data
- Compare results against medical gold standards and optimize algorithm accuracy
- Translate medical requirements into technical specifications for algorithm development
- Prototype solutions using Python/NumPy and support translation to production C++ code
- Collaborate with our clinical validation team to interpret study results
- Work with medical professionals to understand clinical requirements and validate algorithm outputs
- Document technical approaches and research findings
- Stay current with relevant scientific literature and emerging techniques in signal processing and machine learning
Required Qualifications- Master's or PhD in Signal Processing, Biomedical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
- Strong foundation in signal processing and filtering techniques
- Knowledge of machine learning techniques and their practical applications
- Proven experience analyzing experimental data and deriving meaningful insights
- Strong statistical analysis skills
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Proficiency in Python and scientific computing libraries (NumPy, SciPy, etc.)
- Strong communication skills and ability to explain complex concepts clearly
- Multiple years of prior experience working on relevant topics in a self-managed manner
Preferred Qualifications- Experience with C++ development
- Some familiarity with medical device regulations (CE, FDA)
- Background in medical or physiological data analysis
- Experience with clinical studies or medical research
- Publication record in relevant fields
