As our new Senior Data Engineer, you will have a significant impact on the organization: the effectiveness of the Data Platform enhances our understanding of users, new products, and data-driven decision making across the company. You will be part of cross-functional teams across different companies in Central Europe, supporting reporting, analytics, and data product use cases.

This position will be based in Hamburg or Berlin, with the possibility of hybrid work.

Your Responsibilities:

• Participate in designing, developing, and deploying Data Platform products.
• Ensure Data Platform products are well-maintained and support end-users effectively.
• Use appropriate tools and engineering practices to deliver testable, maintainable, and reliable data solutions.
• Collaborate with team members to solve technical challenges and improve processes.
• Develop innovative ideas and approaches within agile teams to address current and future data challenges, aligned with the overall cloud strategy.
• Work with other teams to find joint solutions, promoting collaboration and effective communication.

Your Profile:

• Excellent communication skills, experienced in virtual teams and agile/lean methodologies.
• Good understanding of source control management and branching strategies.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Scala, or Java, with related data manipulation libraries.
• Experience with test-driven development, dependency management, continuous integration, and delivery.
• Proven experience in building, testing, and deploying complex data engineering pipelines, supporting ingestion, transformation, workflow, serving, and egress, using mainstream technologies.
• Knowledge of middleware such as Kafka or pub/sub, data integration, and streaming is advantageous.
• Familiarity with data serialization formats, data modeling, and architecture.
• Understanding of data contracts, quality frameworks, governance, metadata management, and data lineage.
