We are seeking a skilled Senior Data Engineer & Architect with a strong technical foundation, outstanding communication skills, and proven leadership abilities. In this pivotal role, you’ll design and implement resilient data architectures, uphold the highest standards of data quality and governance, and define best practices for data engineering. Beyond technical contributions, you’ll mentor and guide our engineers, fostering a collaborative culture that prioritizes growth and excellence. Your daily tasks will include:

  1. Designing and developing scalable and efficient enterprise-level data architectures, including ETL processes, streaming processing frameworks, and modernizing legacy data infrastructures.
  2. Crafting technical roadmaps, data strategies, and documentation for data architectures, pipelines, and governance practices, ensuring adherence to best practices, security, and compliance standards.
  3. Leading and mentoring engineering teams, providing technical guidance on data engineering best practices while fostering innovation and sharing expertise with junior engineers.
  4. Supporting pre-sales activities by delivering technical presentations, explaining complex data solutions, and helping clients navigate technical jargon to establish a shared understanding of data concepts.
  5. Evaluating new data processing technologies, developing proof-of-concepts, and implementing strategies to ensure the continuous improvement and scalability of data solutions.

The following will make you succeed in this role:

  1. Minimum 5 years of experience as a Data Engineer.
  2. Profound expertise with: ETL/ELT Tooling, Data Modelling, Data Catalogs, Data Governance.
  3. Strong hands-on experience with either Python, SQL, Java, Scala and/or Rust as well as Azure Synapse, Microsoft Fabric, Databricks, dbt, Infrastructure as Code, Containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
  4. Ability to work agile with incomplete and emerging information.
  5. Data related certification preferred such as: Azure Data Engineer Associate, Microsoft Fabric Analytics Engineer Associate/Professional, Databricks Data Engineer Associate.
  6. Experience in doing technical presentations (internal and external).
  7. Proven track record of successful projects.
  8. Willingness to travel from time to time for project-related purposes (DACH region).
  9. Strong communication skills (fluency in English AND German) and intrinsic motivation to stay on top in the data area and actively share your knowledge.
