Senior Data Engineer – Beats & Bytes (B3S)
>Universal Music Group Germany is looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join our Central European Tech Hub (Beats & Bytes) in Berlin. The role is permanent, full‑time, and focused on driving data engineering maturity across the organization.
Responsibilities
- Drive data engineering maturity within the Data Engineering team and across the organization.
- Build strong relationships with team members, managers, and business stakeholders, primarily local marketing.
- Design and build scalable data systems in international cooperation, using Google Cloud Platform, BigQuery, and other GCP services.
- Raise data system operation quality bar, establish standards, and introduce best practices.
- Anticipate needs, priorities, and urgencies, manage expectations of team and stakeholders, and deliver accordingly.
- Actively contribute to the company culture and Beats & Bytes community through training, presentations, or workshops.
- Maintain active participation in the Data Community of Practice and exchange with international IT and business analytics.
Qualifications
- Hold a degree in Computer Science, Business Informatics, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 5‑year experience as a Data Engineer with proficiency in Python and SQL, and domain knowledge in marketing.
- Profound knowledge of data governance, data warehousing, and data processing.
- Familiarity with GCP, BigQuery, Airflow, Kubernetes, and Docker, and prior work within a platform team.
- Fluent in English for technical and business communication; German skills are a plus but willingness to learn is required.
