About The Team

Our Data Science team in our Analytics office in Karlsruhe provides forecast models, interactive analytical tools and predictive scenarios to market professionals. We apply a wide range of advanced analytics techniques from economics, statistical to machine learning & AI, optimisation and agent-based models on internally and externally sourced expert reviewed data. We predict future developments of prices, supply, demand and trade flows for the commodity markets we cover. By integrating our market experts with our models as “humans-in-the-loop” we bring together the best of two worlds and achieve best results.

About The Role

Are you an experienced Analyst and looking to support and improve Data Science applications in production? As Senior Data Analyst for Data Science at ICIS, you will join our experienced Data Science team of 25 and enrich our operational capability to maintain scaled human-centric Data Science models and model interfaces. The purpose of your role is to support our Data Science team by providing high-quality data that is compliant with their requirements. Starting with data discovery and onboarding, you will make sure that the data is error-free, fits the conventions, and can be used in the analytics models. You will also monitor data quality and consistency across our databases.

Key Accountabilities/Responsibilities
  • Contribute to and manage daily data science operations through a data lens. Monitor, identify, investigate, resolve, and report operational data issues to both internal and external data platform users.
  • Enable the commodity market analyst team to find and use relevant data for analysis tasks.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across teams to resolve production problems.
  • Analyze data quality and provide appropriate solutions to quality impediments.
  • Extract data from multiple sources with accuracy and consistency across internal systems.
  • Guide the data operations team in onboarding new data with feedback and support. This includes data discovery, mappings, implementations, and maintenance of download and import processes.
  • Suggest and implement data model changes for key data concepts if necessary.
  • Proactively identify and pursue opportunities to improve processes.
  • Document testing of data science models.
Key Skills/Experience Required
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience with data analysis, operational analysis and release management.
  • Experience working with relational databases and SQL.
  • Basic coding knowledge, preferably in Python and desire to deepen own Python knowledge.
  • Fluent in English.
  • Constructive and collaborative problem-solving communication.
  • Quick comprehension of new problem domain fields with an analytical approach.
  • Affinity to data and data visualisation.
  • Adept at both big-picture thinking and detail-oriented thinking.
