Overview
Senior Cybersecurity Engineer role with a leading telecommunications company in Düsseldorf. The role involves applying cybersecurity expertise to secure IoT products, telecom systems, and network/OT equipment.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive cybersecurity assessments and penetration testing on a variety of systems, including IoT products, telecom systems, and network/OT equipment.
- Identify, evaluate, and report on cybersecurity vulnerabilities, supporting the development of mitigation plans and participating in incident response and post-incident analysis.
- Lead technical exchanges and security communications with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Present security governance, concepts, and research findings to customers during lab visits.
- Conduct advanced security research, focusing on new attack techniques, firmware analysis, and AI-based threat modeling.
- Collaborate with R&D teams to integrate security best practices into the product development lifecycle, ensuring compliance with industry standards (e.g., 3GPP, GSMA NESAS, ISO 27001).
- Lead and coordinate security projects to promote continuous improvement and proactive risk management.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Security, Electronic Communication, or a related field.
- At least 3 years of experience in security, penetration testing, or a related role.
- Proficiency with mainstream security testing tools and methodologies.
- Solid understanding of IoT architectures, network protocols, and telecom/OT systems.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both German and English.
- Strong project management and teamwork skills, with experience in cross-functional security projects.
- A proactive, fast learner with the ability to drive technical innovation.
- Knowledge of AI and machine learning applications in cybersecurity, including AI threat modeling, automated vulnerability detection, or adversarial attack/defense techniques.
- Prior experience in a team or project leadership role.
- Relevant certifications, such as OSCP, OSWE, eWPTX, eCPTXv2, or equivalent.
- An understanding of 5G/4G/2G architectures and common attack methods like IMSI catchers, downgrade attacks, jamming, spoofing, and sniffing.
