Position Overview
We are looking for a Cybersecurity Lead to strengthen the digital security of renewable energy infrastructure, including wind farms, turbine systems, and associated operational technologies. This role involves developing and managing cybersecurity strategies for industrial control systems (ICS), operational technology (OT), and IoT-connected assets within a dynamic and sustainability-focused environment.

The successful candidate will work closely with multidisciplinary teams such as SCADA engineers, IT/OT professionals, control system specialists, and project managers to ensure regulatory compliance, safeguard critical systems, and reduce cyber risks throughout the lifecycle of energy assets. The role also includes coordination with global R&D teams and external partners to tailor and deploy cybersecurity solutions across European operations.

Core Responsibilities

Architecture & Strategy

• Design and implement cybersecurity frameworks for renewable energy projects in Europe, in collaboration with external partners and global headquarters.
• Establish secure configurations for ICS components including PLCs, RTUs, HMIs, and IoT devices.
• Conduct threat modeling and risk assessments for OT environments.

Deployment & Operations

• Integrate security technologies such as firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, endpoint protection, and SIEM tools.
• Configure and monitor secure communication protocols (e.g., IEC 61850, OPC-UA, Modbus/TCP, DNP3).
• Perform vulnerability scans and penetration testing across turbine and farm networks.
• Support incident response, forensic investigations, and recovery efforts.

Compliance & Governance

• Apply knowledge of UK and EU cybersecurity regulations (e.g., NIS2, CRA, GDPR) to ensure compliance.
• Implement standards such as IEC 62443 and ISO 27001, with practical experience in IEC 62443-2-4, -3-2, and -3-3.
• Develop and maintain cybersecurity documentation, including policies, procedures, and disaster recovery plans.
• Assist with audits and regulatory reporting.

Project Support

• Address cybersecurity concerns during project planning and customer engagements.
• Contribute to early-stage project activities (pre-FEED and FEED) with a focus on security.
• Oversee secure commissioning and operation of renewable energy sites.
• Ensure data protection and access control across systems.
• Coordinate with engineering teams and international R&D units to embed security into system designs.
• Deliver cybersecurity awareness sessions for OT and SCADA personnel.
• Work alongside IT security teams to support IT/OT integration.

Qualifications

• Degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 7 years' experience in cybersecurity, preferably within OT/ICS environments.
• Strong understanding of ICS/SCADA systems, network segmentation, and OT protocols.
• Hands-on experience with security tools and vulnerability management.
• Familiarity with critical infrastructure security frameworks (e.g., IEC 62443, NIST CSF).
• Background in renewable energy (e.g., wind, solar, or power generation).
• Certifications such as GICSP, CISSP, CISM, CEH, or IEC 62443.
• Experience with turbine control systems, substations, and grid security.
• Knowledge of cloud-based monitoring and IoT security.
