Senior Control Software Engineer – Goodbytz

Goodbytz develops intelligent cooking robots that enable professional chefs to scale culinary quality while reducing food waste. We’re building technology that supports the food‑service industry, elevates culinary quality, and makes sustainable cooking accessible to everyone.

Responsibilities

• End‑to‑end ownership of features and issue resolution: identify, reproduce, diagnose, fix, test, and deploy changes across the control‑software codebase while making independent design decisions.
• Boost reliability and performance: strengthen core components—including planning, orchestration logic, state machines, and embedded sensor/actuator control—to reduce field bugs, regressions, and mean time to recovery while increasing throughput and system stability.
• Level‑3 production support: act as the escalation point for unexpected field issues, triage incidents using telemetry, contain impact, implement long‑term fixes, and feed learnings back into code, test coverage, and operational runbooks.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
• 8+ years of professional experience at the intersection of software and hardware.
• Strong software‑development skills with a clear understanding of hardware‑related contexts.
• Proven experience in at least one of the following areas: academic research, startup environments, or independently developed technical projects.
• Exceptional code comprehension skills – able to read and debug others’ code faster than they can.
• High sense of ownership – take full responsibility for code, features, bugs, and long‑term maintainability.
• Fluent in English; German or other languages are a plus.
