Job Description
As a Senior Control & Protection Engineering Manager, you will lead an engineering team specializing in HVDC Control & Protection Systems and Control Automation Systems. Your role involves supporting the design and implementation of these systems by analyzing customer requirements, assessing deviations from standard solutions, and providing technical solutions that meet project and tender objectives.

Essential Responsibilities:
- Leading a team that designs, develops, configures, and verifies HVDC Control & Protection Systems
- Driving consistent design practices and global project processes
- Providing technical solutions aligned with project and tender goals
- Developing models and system documentation (PSCAD Network Model, Control MATLAB application, etc.)
- Power system network modeling and verification using PSSE/PSCAD and RSCAD
- Simulating HVDC systems in electromagnetic transient tools like PSCAD, EMTP-RV
- Modeling plant operations in simulation tools and verifying performance
- Conducting dynamic performance studies using offline and online tools
- Tuning control parameters for grid stability as per technical specifications
- Developing algorithms and state machines in MATLAB Simulink
- Converting MATLAB algorithms to other models
- Leading project analysis, evaluations, and ensuring compliance with standards
- Supporting improvements for power fault recovery strategies
- Planning project activities and resource allocation
- Recruiting, coaching, and developing team members
- Providing technical leadership and guidance to staff and specialists
- Managing resources, schedules, and project milestones
- Participating in design reviews and risk assessments
- Collaborating with customers to define specifications
- Aligning decisions with organizational values and strategic goals
- Building partnerships and developing policies
- Defining project work breakdown structures and resource needs
Qualifications / Essential Requirements:
- Engineering degree or equivalent in power systems or related fields
- Over 10 years’ experience in HVDC, including station equipment and design
- Strong leadership and risk management skills
- Experience in Protection & Control system design and problem-solving
- Excellent communication and project management skills
- Proven technical leadership in complex system environments
- Ability to independently make decisions and lead cross-functional teams
- Track record of designing high-quality, reliable systems
Desired Characteristics:
- Knowledge of electrical standards (IEC 61850, IEC 62351, etc.)
- Experience with process improvement or RCA
- Ability to define requirements following best practices
- Experience in HVDC industry and protection systems
