Senior Consultant - Mainframe Strategy and Modernization

The Role

We are seeking a Senior IT Strategy Consultant with a passion for driving meaningful change through technology. The ideal candidate will have deep experience in mainframe applications and infrastructure solutions, and will join us for complex consulting engagements focused on mainframe modernization.

As a Senior IT Strategy Consultant, you will deliver value by applying your domain, technology, and industry expertise, along with consulting techniques and cognitive approaches, to analyze issues and create innovative solutions. You will establish milestones, quality targets, and manage team work while communicating effectively with stakeholders.

Your role involves guiding customers in optimizing and modernizing their mainframe environments, often involving hybrid-IT environments with cloud and non-cloud technologies, virtualization, and containers. You will advise on technology options, help make strategic decisions, and capture and prioritize complex requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver value through mainframe application & infrastructure expertise
• Establish milestones, set quality targets, and manage team members
• Communicate complex technical insights to diverse audiences
• Guide customers on mainframe optimization and modernization strategies
• Lead data integration and AI projects for mainframe environments
• Analyze current states, define IT strategies, design solutions, and oversee implementation
• Develop intellectual property, tools, and white papers in your domain
• Assemble and lead teams of consultants and architects
• Spearhead comprehensive modernization programs encompassing people, culture, process, and technology

You will work within the Kyndryl Consultant Profession, collaborating with various experts, and have opportunities to lead or specialize in transformation projects.

Who You Are

You possess the required experience and a growth mindset, are customer-focused, and inclusive. You are capable of leading modernization efforts across various platforms and environments, leveraging Kyndryl’s capabilities in AIOps, hybrid-IT management, and data integration.

Required Skills and Experience

• 12+ years of mainframe experience with at least one full modernization project
• Proven success in IT or management consulting, including delivery and business development
• Experience working with senior executives and creating referenceable customers
• Ability to lead with a consultative approach, from identification to delivery
• Experience with end-to-end engagement management and billable work
• Development of mainframe modernization patterns and presentations
• Fluency in German and English, both verbal and written

Preferred Skills and Experience

• Strong architecture methodologies and knowledge of leading-edge solutions
• Expertise in hyperscale technologies, with relevant certifications
• Excellent communication and presentation skills
• Experience with IBM Z/IBM i applications and tools
• Knowledge of DevSecOps, Agile, Scrum methodologies
• Subject matter expertise in mainframe and adjacent environments
