Job summary

Allianz Services is seeking a hands-on consultant to turn business problems into running systems. You will frame problems, size value, build MVPs, and ship them within Allianz’s cloud and AI stack, working across audits and client workshops.

You will drive end-to-end MVP delivery from product idea to production, including integration and compliance considerations. You will collaborate with operating entities to ensure scalable, reusable solutions, with a strong emphasis on practical delivery,

Your Role

You turn ideas into running systems –not slideware, not a proof of concept that dies in a demo, but an MVP that stands up in the next client meeting, earns its business case, and is built to survive production. You sit in audits and workshops, call out what holds technically and what doesn’t, and then go build it yourself.

This is a consulting role at Allianz Consulting – and it is an intrapreneurship role, too. As the in-house consultancy of one of the world’s largest insurance groups, we bring the mandate, the clients and the data. What we need from you: frame the business problem, size the value, make the call, build the MVP, and ship it. Some weeks that means a customer workshop, a bugfix and an effort estimate, along the same day.

What You Do

You guide Allianz operating entities through their business problems – from strategy and business case through implementation to pure sparring. You are at the table in audits and workshops. You sort what you hear, quantify what a use case is actually worth, and say no when no is the right answer. You build MVPs that run in the next meeting – not concepts that live on a slide.

Recurring client needs become reusable offerings here. You take an MVP that worked in one operating entity and turn it into something we can sell and scale across the Group – on our cloud and AI stack, with AI placed where the work actually happens: underwriting support, claims, research, reporting, operations. MVP to product to production is your end-to-end responsibility, not a handover to someone else.

Consulting Comes Before Coding

• You can hold a room with business, procurement and IT in it, sort what you hear into a decision, and say no when needed.
• You translate a business problem into a target architecture that fits the client’s existing landscape and that someone can actually build, and you present the result yourself.
• You think in value, not in features. You can size the benefit of a use case, build a rough business case, and kill the ideas that will never pay for themselves.
• You scope an MVP that answers the commercial question in weeks, not a study that answers it in a year.
• You are comfortable in front of senior stakeholders, and you influence without formal authority.

You Still Have to Build It

• You develop independently in cloud environments – TypeScript and React, a backend, a cloud. Which one matters less than the fact that you can carry a system on your own.
• Hands-on experience with AWS or Azure is a plus. So is knowing why you picked one.
• CI/CD is not optional for you. Pipelines, infrastructure as code, automated tests, monitoring: you set up the delivery chain that takes an MVP to production without a heroic release weekend.
• You build inside an enterprise architecture, not next to it: integration into existing systems and APIs, identity and access, data protection, security and compliance requirements –
• and the architecture boards where those get agreed
• You have shipped AI into production, not just prompted it: retrieval, agents, evaluation, cost and latency - the boring parts that decide whether it survives.
• Prompt tinkering alone is not enough. Neither is a deck about AI strategy. We are hiring someone who ships.

Intrapreneurial Mindset

• You create momentum without waiting for direction and you turn ideas into something running.
• You spot the opportunity where others see complexity, and you own the outcome, not the ticket.
• Creative and technical is not a contradiction for you.

Nice to Have

• Business fluent English; German is a very strong plus for customer-facing work, and welcome for documentation.
• Experience from a startup, a scale-up, a venture or innovation environment, or as the person who built the internal tooling nobody had asked for yet.
• Insurance or insurtech context, or a management consulting background paired with real build skills.
• A track record of open source, side projects or internal platforms that other people ended up using.
