Allianz Consulting in Munich is looking for a Principal Consultant to lead strategy and transformation workstreams for senior Allianz stakeholders. You will shape prioritization, business planning and operating models, then drive delivery and governance across functions and entities.

You will mentor junior consultants, develop solution concepts, and ensure executive-level visibility, while advancing AI-enabled transformation across the organization.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in strategy or management consulting with transformation experience.
• Expert knowledge of AI and GenAI frameworks and ability to advise on adoption.
• Experience leading large transformation programs and cross-country stakeholder management.
• Fluent in English; German and other languages are a plus.

About the Team

The Insurance Transformation team partners with senior Allianz Group leaders on their most consequential strategic priorities. We define growth and productivity levers, harmonize business models, and translate strategic ambitions, such as the Group's AI agenda, into a prioritized transformation roadmap. We then drive its delivery by designing target operating models, redesigning end-to-end processes, and governing Group-wide transformation programs through to measurable results.

Role Overview

As a Principal Consultant you lead workstreams in strategy and transformation engagements for senior Allianz stakeholders, from Board-level sponsors to the leadership teams of operating entities. You start from strategy, helping senior leaders set priorities, build the business plan behind them and shape how Allianz competes and operates in a changing market. You then move to design and delivery, improving processes and performance across functions and entities, shaping the operating models that sustain the change and running the governance that turns a strategy into delivered results. Along the way you develop the consultants working with you.

Key Responsibilities

• - Deliver complex strategic and transformation projects that reshape how Allianz operates, from strategic rationale, business case and financial modeling (including for potential acquisitions) to new operating models, leveraging your experience in strategy consulting and large-scale transformation programs and ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and measurable outcomes
• - Set up and run project governance, including steering committees, delivery and impact reporting, risk and dependency management, executive status updates and board presentations for senior management
• - Manage client relationships, provide guidance to junior colleagues and execute on project deliverables, timelines and day-to-day operations
• - Report directly to the Engagement Manager, ensuring transparency on progress, risks and dependencies, and proactively provide clarity and action plans, anticipating potential pain points and addressing them before they escape
• - Analyze business needs through external benchmarking, selected due diligence and research on industry trends and market conditions, identify improvement opportunities across the insurance value chain and their top-down impact, and design innovative solutions that enhance business processes, operating models and digital capabilities
• - Drive thought leadership by contributing to pitches, developing solution concepts and identifying new opportunities for value creation
• - Coach and mentor junior consultants, fostering capability development and a high-performance culture
• - Ensure effective stakeholder management and maintain strong client partnerships throughout project lifecycles

Key requirements / What we hope you bring

• - University degree in Business Administration, Economics, Engineering or a comparable field
• - 7+ years in strategy or management consulting, ideally with a top-tier or internal consulting firm, covering overarching business transformation strategy development and rollouts or M&A transactions and due diligences, including experience leading workstreams in large transformation programs
• - Expert knowledge of AI and generative AI (GenAI) frameworks, daily use of AI tools in your own work and the ability to advise clients on AI adoption for successful business transformation
• - Proven expertise in strategy development, business planning and large-scale transformation programs, together with target operating model design, business process improvement, program and project governance, business case development and organizational design
• - Experience in insurance or financial services is ideal, combined with the ability to grasp complex business models quickly
• - Strong structuring and analytical skills, strategic thinking and an entrepreneurial, hands‑on mindset
• - Confidence in advising and presenting to senior executives and in steering stakeholders across countries and functions
• - Fluent in English (written and spoken)

Nice to have

• - MBA or comparable postgraduate degree
• - Experience in corporate transformation programs
• - Experience in highly complex, international environments
• - Certifications in process improvement or program management (e.g. Lean Six Sigma, PMP, agile frameworks)
• - Additional languages, in particular German, Spanish, Italian and French
