Rapid international growth has put compliance at the heart of our client’s agenda. The organisation operates in one of the most heavily regulated sectors, and it now wants a senior specialist to own the architecture of its group-wide compliance programme and make sure it scales with the business.
You’ll join as an expert in your own right rather than a team leader, with full accountability for your area and the freedom to build it as you see fit. Much of the job involves partnering with functional leads across the group, so the frameworks you create become part of everyday decision-making instead of sitting on paper.
The role:
- Shape the overall compliance framework: its governance structure, policies, standards and who is accountable for what.
- Keep watch on the regulatory landscape and, where change affects the group, define the controls, owners and rollout steps needed to respond.
- Identify and prioritise compliance exposure through structured risk assessments.
- Measure how well the programme is working, using targeted monitoring, meaningful KPIs and regular reporting to leadership, and ensure gaps are closed.
- Bring privacy matters together at group level in partnership with the Data Protection Officer.
- Set up clear oversight for specialist regulatory topics, trade compliance among them, so issues are owned, escalated and visible to management.
- Get the business ready for external scrutiny by coordinating audits and regulatory reviews and steering any resulting actions.
- Be a sounding board for senior leaders on where compliance risk lies and what should come first.
What you’ll need:
- Several years in compliance, with real depth in designing and running compliance management systems: risk assessment, policy frameworks, controls, monitoring and regulatory change.
- Experience in an international organisation subject to demanding regulatory requirements; time spent in defence, aerospace, public-sector contracting or a similarly regulated field would set you apart.
- A relevant degree or professional qualification, and the judgement to turn dense regulation into processes people can actually follow.
- Comfort with technology, including an interest in how AI, data and specialist tools can sharpen compliance monitoring and reporting.
- The ability to drive complex initiatives across functions on your own initiative, and the credibility to advise senior management.
- A practical, roll-up-your-sleeves working style and a strong sense of accountability.
- Excellent English; German language skills are a significant plus.
