Key responsibilities

As External Communications Manager (m/f/d) Motion Germany, you will play a key role in positioning our drive technology as a thought leadership partner in the German market. You understand market trends and customer requirements, identify topics, and proactively develop marketing communication concepts to position the Motion business unit with its products and solutions as an industry leader.

This includes developing content tailored to specific target groups for press releases, white papers, case studies, success stories, and other marketing materials for various communication channels.

Your main responsibilities:

• Establishing and maintaining close trade media relationships to ensure media coverage.
• Topic-oriented work aligned with sales strategies. Work closely with sales, functional representatives, the sustainability team, and product management to ensure alignment and effectiveness of communication strategies.
• Lead and support the respective product divisions in internal and external communication. Drive content across local and global ABB.
• Track and analyze the performance of external communication activities. Use data and insights to propose improvements and adjust strategies as needed.
• Support crisis communication plans to protect the organization's reputation.

Qualifications for the role

• University degree in communication, marketing, public relations, or a related field.
• Many years of experience in external communication, public relations, or marketing communication. Deep understanding of automation solutions is required; knowledge of drives, motors, and PLCs is an advantage.
• Experience working with trade media and leading thought leadership activities.
• Strong writing, editing, and content creation skills in German and English.
• Convincing personal competence and cultural sensitivity to build strong networks inside and outside the organization, along with strong project management skills and personal responsibility to handle complex tasks and deadlines.
• Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• Very good knowledge of English; other languages are an advantage.
