Senior Cloud Network Security & Automation Engineer (gn) – Managed Platform Infrastructure, SoftwareOne

As a Senior Cloud Security & Automation Engineer in MPI, you will play a key role in modernizing and securing our cloud environment with a focus on automation, operational excellence, and security best practices. You will work in a collaborative, highly technical team that operates across complex cloud architectures and networking infrastructures.

We’re growing our cloud capabilities with a focus on security, automation, and operational excellence.

The role

As a Senior Cloud Network Security & Automation Engineer, you’ll help design, secure, and automate our cloud environments (Azure and AWS). You’ll work in a tight-knit, highly technical team at the forefront of modern infrastructure management.

You’ll be responsible for:

• Designing and implementing secure cloud network architectures
• Managing firewalls, VPNs, and security groups across Azure and AWS
• Automating infrastructure and security tasks using Terraform, Ansible, and scripting (Python, PowerShell or Bash)
• Supporting operational teams with secure cloud deployments and performance tuning
• Leading continuous improvement in cloud governance, security and automation practices

What we need to see from you

You’re a hands-on engineer with broad experience in cloud networking, security, and automation.

Key skills and experience:

• Proven background in cybersecurity and cloud operations
• Strong knowledge of Azure and/or AWS networking and native security services
• Experience with enterprise firewalls (e.g. FortiGate, Barracuda, CheckPoint)
• Proficiency with automation tools like Terraform, Ansible, GitHub Actions
• Confident scripting in Python, PowerShell or Bash
• Solid understanding of VPNs, BGP, routing, encryption and cloud-native architectures
• Familiarity with compliance frameworks (ISO 27001, NIST, GDPR) is a plus

For a placement based in Austria, the minimum monthly salary for this role is EUR 4,485 gross based on a 38.5-hour work week, in accordance with the IT collective agreement. Depending on your qualifications and professional experience, the actual salary may be significantly higher.
