Job Description

To strengthen our team in Germany, we are immediately seeking a (Senior) Claims Handler Property (m/f/d).

Your Responsibilities

• Independent handling and settlement of all types of property claims along the entire value chain, including developing appropriate solution strategies and professional negotiations.
• Processing of participation claims, including coordination with the leading insurer and implementation of claim strategies.
• Engagement, management, and oversight of experts, lawyers, and other external service providers.
• Preparation of reports on large claims, NAT CAT, and other special claim events.
• Identification and consistent pursuit of subrogation opportunities, considering economic aspects.
• Written and verbal communication in English.
• Close collaboration with consortium partners, policyholders, brokers, and clients—both nationally and internationally.
• Supporting the Head of Claims Germany & Austria in strategic and operational projects, especially related to process and system optimization.
• Regular technical exchange with underwriting, sales, and other internal and external stakeholders.
• Representation of Sompo on topics related to property claims—internally and externally.

Your Profile

• Ideally, you have completed training as an insurance and finance clerk or a degree in engineering or business administration, preferably with a focus on insurance. Alternatively, you bring comparable qualifications.
• You have at least two to three years of professional experience in the claims department of an insurance company, focusing on commercial or industrial property insurance. Experience with an industrial insurer with an international focus is especially valuable. You have demonstrated negotiation strength and skill in handling complex claims.
• You are a team player with a high sense of responsibility towards customers, brokers, and colleagues. High customer and service orientation are natural to you, and you are interested in personal development and enjoy working in an international environment.
• You possess excellent organizational skills, can recognize and analyze problems, and develop and implement initiatives to resolve them. Your work approach is entrepreneurial, and you enjoy shaping changes to optimize our customer promise.
• You enjoy conducting internal and external training sessions and can convey complex content understandably.
• Fluent in English, willing to travel, and proficient in MS Office applications complete your profile.
