BESS Project Development Manager – Germany (Remote)
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and self-motivated individual to join a growing renewable energy business as a Project Development Manager, focused on Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) in Germany. This is a remote role, open to candidates based across the country, with a preference for those located in Berlin or the Stuttgart region.
The company develops large-scale solar and battery storage projects across multiple international markets including the UK, Canada, the US, Italy, Portugal, Lithuania, Spain, Germany, and Ireland. They work closely with landowners and local stakeholders to bring high-quality renewable energy projects to fruition.
Advancing a pipeline of BESS and solar PV projects through to ready-to-build status
Originating new project opportunities across Germany
Coordinating with a central site-finding team to direct land searches
Conducting landowner outreach and negotiating land agreements
Engaging with grid operators to identify and secure grid connections
Managing permitting processes with local authorities
Leading site surveys and project design
Liaising with internal teams and external consultants across time zones
Supporting project sales, RFPs and securing off-take agreements
Staying updated on regulatory and market developments in Germany
-level German skills
Proven experience in developing renewable energy or real estate projects in Germany
Strong knowledge of permitting procedures
Excellent communication and team-working skills, including remote collaboration
Proactive and self-driven approach with the ability to manage your own schedule
Problem-solving mindset with attention to detail
Experience managing third-party contractors and consultants
Fluency in English, both written and verbal
Willingness to travel within Germany for site visits and stakeholder engagement
Availability for occasional international travel (e.g., to the company’s HQ)
Valid drivers license and suitable home office setup
Right to live and work in Germany
Experience negotiating land lease or purchase agreements
Experience managing grid connection applications and negotiating with DSOs/TSOs
