Senior Backend Engineer II, AI Native, Pets & Things Experiences

Zusammenfassung

Jobtailor is seeking an accomplished backend engineer to design, build, and maintain robust backend services for device connectivity and telemetry. You will collaborate across firmware, mobile, and product teams to define APIs and workflows, delivering scalable microservices on AWS and building high-throughput data pipelines.

You will own observability and reliability practices, participate in on-call incidents, and continuously improve CI/CD and automation.

Qualifikationen

• Bachelor’s in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of backend service development in Java, Go, Python, or similar.
• Experience with microservices architecture, RESTful API design, and distributed systems.
• Strong cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred), container orchestration, and deployments.
• Experience with relational and NoSQL databases, caching, and event/streaming systems.
• Hands-on agentic AI workflow experience.
• Experience with IoT or telematics systems (nice-to-have).
• Familiarity with Kafka/Kinesis or other streaming platforms (nice-to-have).
• Experience with high-frequency ingest systems and time-series data (nice-to-have).
• Observability tooling such as Prometheus, Grafana, and OpenTelemetry (nice-to-have).
• Knowledge of SRE practices and automated testing frameworks (nice-to-have).
• Daily use of AI coding assistants such as Claude Code, Cursor, and GitHub Copilot.
• Accountability for reviewing AI-generated code.
• Ability to automate prompting strategies and share effective practices.
• Ability to stay current with rapidly changing AI tooling.

• Participate in on-call rotations and live incident response.
• Write clean, testable, performant code and improve CI/CD and automation.
• Orchestrate AI coding agents for specification writing, code generation, test authoring, incident triage, PR reviews, and system design.
• Help establish and evolve AI-native engineering practices for the Pet Experiences team.
• Deliver features to production weekly.

Requirements
