Staff Software Engineer – Platform and Cloud Services

Zusammenfassung

Jobtailor is seeking a senior principal backend architect to own platform architecture within our AWS-native stack, driving scalable services for AI/ML workloads and strong multi-tenancy. You will translate customer needs into durable platform designs and partner with product and engineering leaders to align technical direction.

You will mentor engineers, champion IaC, CI/CD, and observability, and lead modernization initiatives across the stack, while ensuring secure data access and robust API

Qualifikationen

• Bachelor's or higher in CS, IS, Software or Electrical/Electronics Engineering or equivalent.
• 8+ years of professional software engineering, including 2+ years at staff level.
• Proven leadership of architecture spanning multiple teams.
• Ability to drive technical outcomes across diverse stakeholders without direct authority.
• Track record of end-to-end initiatives including release ownership.
• Strong Python proficiency; Java experience is a plus.
• Deep experience designing scalable, enterprise-grade distributed systems on AWS.
• Strong data-modeling and service-architecture skills.
• Experience with high-throughput data pipelines, asynchronous processing, or ML/inference services.
• Security and multi-tenancy including authentication/authorization and token handling.
• Experience designing high-scale API contracts and IaC/CI-CD for cloud services.
• Observability in distributed systems: logging, metrics, tracing, alerts.
• Staying current with AI capabilities and applying them creatively.
• Excellent written and verbal communication in English.

• Own canonical data models and service boundaries within a critical platform domain


• Design durable, backward-compatible platform architectures and reusable abstractions


• Design AWS-native, event-driven, asynchronous, scalable, resilient, and cost-efficient services


• Architect backend systems supporting AI/ML workloads at scale


• Ensure tenant isolation, authentication, authorization, secure token handling, permission-aware data access, and credential management


• Lead technical design of major platform initiatives from design through release


• Partner with product and engineering leaders to translate customer and business needs into platform architectures


• Align cross-functional stakeholders around technical direction


• Produce design documents, service contracts, acceptance criteria, and API contracts


• Establish contract tests and permission-enforcement validation


• Champion infrastructure-as-code, automated testing, continuous delivery, and observability


• Lead platform modernization and refactoring initiatives


• Contribute across the stack when needed, with backend as the primary focus


• Unblock teams and accelerate architectural decisions


• Partner with CloudOps, Security, MLOps, and integration teams on reliability and operational-readiness standards


• Mentor senior and mid-level engineers


• Drive pragmatic adoption of rapidly evolving AI capabilities

Requirements

• Bachelor's and/or master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software or Electrical/Electronics Engineering, or a comparable field


• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, including 2+ years at staff level


• Demonstrated leadership of architecture decisions spanning multiple teams


• Ability to drive technical outcomes across diverse stakeholders and teams without direct authority


• Track record of owning significant initiatives end to end, including release ownership


• Strong proficiency in Python; working experience in Java is a plus


• Deep experience designing, building, and operating scalable, enterprise-grade distributed systems on AWS


• Strong data-modeling and service-architecture skills


• Experience with high-throughput data pipelines, asynchronous processing, or ML/inference services at scale


• Solid grounding in application security and multi-tenancy, including authentication/authorization, token handling, tenant isolation, and permission-aware data access


• Experience designing high-scale API contracts


• Strong experience with infrastructure-as-code and CI/CD for cloud services


• Strong understanding of observability in distributed systems, including logging, metrics, tracing, and alerting


• Habit of staying current with rapidly evolving AI capabilities and integrating them into work and design


• Excellent written and verbal communication in English


• Preferred: experience building AI/ML product services and data pipelines


• Preferred: experience integrating third-party SaaS platforms and connectors


• Preferred: search and retrieval systems experience


• Preferred: familiarity with CLM, contracts, or comparable enterprise B2B platforms
