We are looking for a passionate new team member to join us as a Senior Backend Engineer (d/f/m), Trust and Safety.

This is your opportunity to improve the experience of millions of users and have an impact by building a platform that enables sustainable trade for everyone. You will develop services for our trust and safety domain to prevent fraud and safeguard our users.

You will be part of a cross-functional team including members from Product, Customer Service, Analytics, and Engineering with the mission "to make our platform a safer place to trade".

This is a hybrid role, and our office is based in Berlin. You will report directly to the Tech Lead - Trust & Safety.

Your tasks and responsibilities:

1. You will work together with Product and Design to develop the future of a safe and trusted kleinanzeigen.de platform.

2. Your will keep the platform's architecture clean, stable, and scalable.

3. You will handle up to 60k requests per second while the platform is still growing.

4. You will promote your own ideas for code, process, and product improvements.

5. You ensure quality and maintainability by improving build and test systems.

6. You bring in your own perspective of how our users' problems can be solved.

Your skill profile:

1. Bachelor or Master's degree in computer science or related field (or equivalent experience).

2. At least 8+ years of programming experience in Java backend development.

3. Knowledge of Core Java APIs, Spring Framework, and Spring Boot. Proficiency in Kotlin is a plus.

4. Experience with RDBMS or NoSQL (e.g. MySQL, Cassandra, Elasticsearch).

5. You have a passion for writing clean code and an eye for simplicity and pragmatism.

6. Your are familiar with operating microservices on public clouds (e.g. k8s and AWS).

7. Knowledge of event-driven systems (Kafka) and distributed computing.

8. Deep understanding of object-oriented and domain-driven design.

9. Experience with continuous learning and knowledge sharing.

10. Believer in collaboration and a DevOps mindset.

11. True team player mentality, with excellent collaboration skills.

12. Business fluent in English, German is a plus.
