Zusammenfassung

Siemens AG is seeking an Automation Engineer (f/m/d) to design, implement, and operate automation for IT/OT Security Platforms, focusing on secure, scalable, and reliable service operations in Siemens’ factory environments.

You will build IaC solutions, CI/CD pipelines, and integration across IT/OT with a strong emphasis on Zero Trust and AI-driven improvements. Fluent English and German beneficial, with CET alignment.

Qualifikationen

• A university degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Automation, or a comparable qualification.
• Strong expertise in Infrastructure as Code and Platform Automation (e.g., Terraform, OpenTofu, Ansible, CI/CD pipelines) and automated deployment of connectivity and operations platforms.
• Scripting/programming skills with Python, Bash, or Go.
• Proven hands-on experience with Cloud (AWS) and containerized environments and microservices like Docker.
• Experience with AI-driven DevOps, Operations and Automation, including LLMs, GitHub Copilot, AIOps concepts, workflow automation, and analytics-driven improvements.
• Hands-on experience in OpenZiti Development and API Integration (REST APIs, SDKs), including policy automation.
• Solid understanding of OT Infrastructure and Industrial Protocols (OPC UA, PROFINET, PLCs, HMIs) and secure brownfield integration.
• Knowledge of Cybersecurity, PKI, certificate lifecycle management, Active Directory, SSO.
• Ability to bridge IT and OT requirements and collaborate with architects, engineers, operators, and stakeholders.
• Passion for automation, standardization and continuous improvement, with a focus on reducing manual effort.

• You develop and operate Infrastructure-as-Code solutions and automate deployment across Siemens factory environments.
• You build and maintain CI/CD pipelines, tooling, and workflows to improve service delivery and reduce manual effort.
• You integrate platforms and services via APIs and automation frameworks for seamless operations.
• You support Zero Trust connectivity implementations and automate policy provisioning and workflows.
• You collaborate with factories and project teams to integrate solutions into IT/OT environments including brownfield sites.
• You assist troubleshooting, monitoring and continuous service improvement across global deployments.
• You leverage AI-driven automation and analytics to optimize platform operations and deployment processes.
• You contribute to the transition toward AI-native OT security services.

What part will you play?

• You design, implement, and maintain automation solutions for IT/OT Security Platforms (specifically but not exclusively SINEC Secure Connect, ensuring secure, scalable, and reliable service operations).
• You develop and operate Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) solutions using modern automation frameworks and support the automated deployment of platforms and services across Siemens factory environments.
• You build and maintain CI/CD pipelines, operational tooling, and automation workflows to improve service delivery, reduce manual effort, and increase operational efficiency.
• You integrate platforms, tools, and services through APIs and automation frameworks to enable seamless operational processes and data flows.
• You support the implementation and operation of Zero Trust connectivity solutions and contribute to the automation of policy management, provisioning, and operational workflows.
• You collaborate with factories and project teams to integrate solutions into existing IT and OT environments while considering operational requirements and brownfield infrastructures.
• You support troubleshooting, monitoring, and continuous service improvement activities and help ensure stable operations across global deployments.
• You evaluate and leverage modern technologies such as AI-driven automation, analytics, and operational intelligence to continuously improve platform operations and deployment processes.
• You actively shape the journey to AI-native OT security services.

What you bring to the table

• You have a university degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Automation, or a comparable qualification.
• You possess strong expertise in Infrastructure as Code and Platform Automation, including Terraform, Open Tofu, Ansible, CI/CD pipelines, scripting, and automated deployment of connectivity and operations platforms (at least 3+ years of experience).
• Scripting/programming skills with Python/Bash/Go.
• Proven hands-on experience with Cloud (AWS) and containerized environments and microservices like Docker (at least 2+ years of experience).
• You have experience with AI-driven DevOps, Operations and Automation, including the use of LLMs, GitHub Copilot, AIOps concepts, workflow automation, and analytics-driven operational improvements.
• You bring hands-on experience in OpenZiti Development (optional) and API Integration (mandatory), including SDKs, REST APIs, policy automation, and custom tooling to integrate Zero Trust networking capabilities into applications and operational workflows. (1+ years of experience).
• You have a solid understanding of OT Infrastructure and Industrial Protocols, including PLCs, HMIs, OPC UA, PROFINET, machine-to-machine communication, OT troubleshooting, and the secure integration of solutions into brownfield factory environments. You also understand the emerging role of AI agents in OT environments and the underlying connectivity, security, and operational requirements they introduce.
• You possess knowledge of Cybersecurity, PKI, certificate lifecycle management, Active Directory, Single Sign-On (at least 1+ year of experience).
• You are able to bridge IT and OT requirements and collaborate effectively with architects, factory engineers, operations teams, and business stakeholders.
• You are passionate about automation, standardization, and continuous improvement, with a strong focus on reducing manual effort through scalable technical solutions.
• You provide your support during Central European Time Zone (CET).
• Fluent English skills complete your profile.
