We are tackling global plastic pollution and you will be a part of the solution!

With our innovative technology, we turn plant leftovers from the agricultural industry into a novel, sustainable, biobased, plastic-free, and compostable biomaterial. This material leaves no harmful traces. Our goal is to replace as many plastics as possible, and this is where you come in.

As a Senior Application Engineer (f/m/x), you will help us further optimize and develop our traceless converting technologies. With your experience in paper coating (dispersion and/or extrusion) or film extrusion processes, you will assist our customers in converting our traceless material on their machines. You will enable a transition to traceless products across a wide range of applications to make a significant contribution to solving global plastic pollution. Your tasks include:

1. Leading the technical aspects of customer projects for developing traceless products
2. Developing processing concepts, leading laboratory tests, and communicating technical and project-related information to stakeholders
3. Leading production tests with our partners for applying traceless materials on their machines
4. Deepening our understanding of how our materials are used in converting machines to optimize their potential
5. Identifying opportunities to enhance our material properties while maintaining their sustainability
6. Sharing knowledge about processing and ideas for production improvements with our teams
7. Working in our innovative laboratory environment in Buchholz i.d.N., south of Hamburg

Your profile

• Degree in chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, material science, polymer science, or similar with an applied research mindset
• At least 5 years of technical experience in (bio)polymer converting industry, specializing in paper extrusion, dispersion, paper coating, or film extrusion
• Strong understanding of thermoplastic processes, (bio)polymer structures, interactions, and processing techniques
• Experience in product packaging methodologies and processes
• Proven leadership skills, including cross-functional collaboration and project management from concept to implementation
• Hands-on mentality with pragmatic problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently and in teams with a solution-oriented mindset
• Innovative thinking, open-mindedness, and a good sense of humor
• Proficiency in spoken and written English; knowledge of German is a plus

traceless is a young, award-winning company founded in Hamburg in 2020 by our female founders, Anne and Johanna. We are a diverse team from different disciplines, ages, and twelve nationalities, united by our mission to solve plastic pollution and build the regenerative industry of the future. We aim to bring our materials to market rapidly and establish our first large-scale production facility in Hamburg-Harburg.
