We're looking for a highly motivated and experienced Senior Android Engineer to join our Ride Experience team and play a key role in developing and maintaining the critical user-facing features within our flagship consumer Android application. You will work closely with a talented team of Software Engineers, Engineering Managers, Product Managers, and Designers, taking ownership of the entire software development lifecycle for these crucial user flows. This role offers a unique opportunity to impact the user experience and contribute to our business growth. It is a hybrid role, requiring in-office presence two days a week.

Role and Responsibilities

  1. Develop and maintain user-facing features in our consumer Android app, focusing on ride experience, from ideation to deployment.
  2. Ensure stability, performance, and security of user flows using clean architecture principles and industry best practices.
  3. Identify and address technical debt and performance issues proactively.
  4. Ship updates to the Play Store, monitor app health, debug issues, and communicate with stakeholders.
  5. Contribute to the technical vision and roadmap for our Android platform.
  6. Collaborate with product and design teams to translate user needs into impactful features.
  7. Participate in code reviews to maintain high-quality codebase.
  8. Help improve development processes and tooling.

Qualifications and Skills

  1. Passion for technology and user-centric software engineering. Ability to understand and solve user problems effectively.
  2. Strong product ownership mentality, responsible for features and ride experience success.
  3. Excellent critical thinking, observability mindset, and data-driven decision-making skills.
  4. Ability to work independently, fluent in Kotlin, familiar with Android best practices, and adhere to architecture guidelines.
  5. 5+ years of experience developing and shipping B2C Android applications, preferably with maps and navigation experience.
  6. Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Bonus Skills

  • Experience with A/B testing.
  • Interest or experience in backend or iOS development.
  • Knowledge of cross-platform technologies (Flutter, KMM).
  • Experience working in Agile environments.
