About our technology

The semiconductor industry’s growing demand for more powerful chips with higher bandwidth and lower power finds its solution in our technology. We connect chips to high-throughput, low-delay computing networks. The key lies in harnessing the physical properties of graphene to combine electronic computing with photonic communication, allowing countless chips to interact almost as if they were one. Our graphene photonic innovation increases computing power and efficiency to a new order of magnitude. In short, we connect chips to create powerful and energy-efficient networks, overcoming connectivity limitations in the semiconductor industry. We deliver the graphene solution.

The Role

Black Semiconductor is seeking a Senior Analog/RF System Architect (f/m/d) to join our photonics product development team. In this pivotal role, you will architect the Analog/RF portion of our CMOS SoCs that drive cutting-edge photonics components, targeting data centers and edge AI applications. You will collaborate closely with our cross-disciplinary engineering teams to model and analyze system-level performance. This role requires a deep expertise in high-frequency systems-on-chip (SoCs), high-speed (40+ GHz) electro-optic interfaces, silicon photonics, and 3D integration technologies. You will work alongside engineering, product, and sales teams, and engage directly with customers to ensure our products meet deployment requirements. Additionally, you will support the product team in modeling critical use cases and analyzing Return-on-Investment for various architectural features.

To join our team, you should be excited to
  • Fully document the Analog/RF Product Requirement Specification (PRS) per product, including architecture design, verification, tools, and estimations for performance, power, and area (PPA).
  • Architect high-speed (50G and beyond) analog/mixed-signal circuit blocks customized for optical transceivers, such as drivers, TIAs, equalizers, ADC/DACs, PLLs, and CDRs, in collaboration with the engineering design team.
  • Fully document the Analog IP roadmap aligned with our technology capabilities and EDA/contractor partnerships.
  • Fully document the Customer Requirement Document (CRD) per customer engagement.
  • Contribute to the SOC concept and feasibility documents, describing the explored solution space and providing recommendations on final architecture.
  • Fully document use cases, and validation plans for the recommended architecture.
