Zusammenfassung

RWE Supply & Trading GmbH, based in Essen, is seeking a (Senior) Accountant - Energy Trading to take ownership of accounting for commodity transactions across RWEs international portfolio and global trading business. You will combine IFRS/HGB expertise with data-driven processes to deliver reliable financial information for the RWEs group.

In this role you will prepare financial reports, analyse data using SQL-based tools, collaborate with auditors and stakeholders, and contribute to harmonising

Qualifikationen

• Several years of professional experience in accounting.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS and German GAAP (HGB), with confident use of SAP S/4HANA, Microsoft Office and relevant reporting tools.
• Understanding of reporting systems and SQL databases, supported by strong analytical skills.
• Curiosity and confidence in using approved AI tools responsibly to support efficient, high-quality work.
• Good understanding of energy markets and energy trading.
• Fluent German and English language skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
• A structured, solution-oriented approach, with the confidence to challenge constructively and turn ideas into implemented improvements.

Aufgaben

• Apply relevant accounting rules and regulations while constructively challenging and improving existing structures and processes.
• Contribute to the transformation, harmonisation and integration of accounting services within Commercial Asset Optimisation.
• Coordinate effectively with external auditors and support group-wide projects within the CAO environment.
• Collaborate with Controlling, Risk, Group Accounting and other stakeholder departments across RWEST and the wider RWE Group.

Join the Commercial Asset Optimisation (CAO) Accounting team and take ownership of the accounting for commodity transactions across RWE’s international power generation portfolio and global trading business. In this role, you will combine accounting expertise, energy trading knowledge and digital tools to improve processes, increase data quality and provide reliable financial information for the RWE Group result. You will ensure accurate accounting results today while helping to build more harmonised, efficient and data-driven processes for the future.

About the role

• Understanding of reporting systems and SQL databases, supported by strong analytical skills.
• Curiosity and confidence in using approved AI tools responsibly to support efficient, high-quality work.
• Good understanding of energy markets and energy trading.
• Fluent German and English language skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
• A structured, solution-oriented approach, with the confidence to challenge constructively and turn ideas into implemented improvements.

Advantageous, but not essential

• Knowledge of Microsoft Access, SQL and Power BI.
• Experience in data analysis and internal process improvement projects.
