RWE Supply & Trading GmbH is seeking an experienced CAO Accounting professional to own the accounting for commodity transactions across our international portfolio and global trading business. You will combine accounting expertise, energy trading knowledge and digital tools to improve processes, increase data quality and provide reliable financial information.

You will ensure accurate results today while helping to build harmonised, efficient and data-driven processes for the future,

Qualifikationen

• Several years of professional experience in accounting.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS and German GAAP (HGB), with SAP S/4HANA, MS Office and reporting tools.
• Understanding of reporting systems and SQL databases with strong analytical skills.
• Curiosity and confidence in using approved AI tools responsibly to support high‑quality work.
• Good understanding of energy markets and energy trading.
• Fluent German and English with cross‑department collaboration.
• Structured, solution‑oriented approach and ability to challenge ideas constructively.

• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports in accordance with IFRS and HGB.
• Analyze and validate complex accounting data using reporting systems, SQL databases and related tools.
• Apply accounting rules while constructively challenging and improving structures and processes.
• Contribute to transformation, harmonisation and integration of accounting services within CAO.
• Coordinate effectively with external auditors and support group-wide projects.
• Collaborate with Controlling, Risk, Group Accounting and other stakeholder departments across RWEST and the wider RWE Group.

In this role, you will combine accounting expertise, energy trading knowledge and digital tools to improve processes, increase data quality and provide reliable financial information for the RWE Group result. You will ensure accurate accounting results today while helping to build more harmonised, efficient and data-driven processes for the future.

About The Role

• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports in accordance with IFRS and German GAAP (HGB).
• Analyse and validate complex accounting data using reporting systems, SQL databases and related tools.
• Apply relevant accounting rules and regulations while constructively challenging and improving existing structures and processes.
• Contribute to the transformation, harmonisation and integration of accounting services within Commercial Asset Optimisation.
• Coordinate effectively with external auditors and support group-wide projects within the CAO environment.
• Collaborate with Controlling, Risk, Group Accounting and other stakeholder departments across RWE Supply & Trading GmbH (RWEST) and the wider RWE Group.

Job Requirements And Experience

• Several years of professional experience in accounting, ideally in a complex and data-intensive environment.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS and German GAAP (HGB), combined with confident use of SAP S/4HANA, Microsoft Office and relevant reporting tools.
• Understanding of reporting systems and SQL databases, supported by strong analytical skills.
• Curiosity and confidence in using approved AI tools responsibly to support efficient, high-quality work.
• Good understanding of energy markets and energy trading.
• Fluent German and English language skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
• A structured, solution-oriented approach, with the confidence to challenge constructively and turn ideas into implemented improvements.

Advantageous, But Not Essential

• Knowledge of Microsoft Access, SQL and Power BI.
• Experience in data analysis and internal process improvement projects.
