Job Description:

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Management Accountant to join our growing team based in Germany (ideally Düsseldorf). The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in managing the financial systems and our German offices. This role will involve the transition from external bookkeeping to internal bookkeeping and the implementation of the Odoo accounting platform. As a Senior Accountant, you will be responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance and optimisation of our financial processes to support the continued growth and success of our business.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Oversee the day-to-day financial operations of 4 operating companies in Germany.
2. Manage all aspects of the accounting cycle, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger entries, bank reconciliations, and payroll.
3. Implement and maintain the Odoo accounting platform to streamline financial workflows and improve efficiency.
4. Produce timely balance sheets and reports to be forwarded to our centralised UK team for consolidation.
5. Ensure compliance with local tax regulations, reporting requirements and legal obligations.
6. Work closely with cross-functional teams, including finance, operations and regulators, to support strategic initiatives and business objectives.
7. Provide financial insight and analysis to support decision making and business planning processes.
8. Build and maintain close relationships with external auditors, tax advisors and regulators.

Ideal Candidate:

1. Degree level qualification in Accounting, Finance or a related field; CIMA / ACCA / ACA preferred.
2. Proven experience as an Experienced Accountant (Senior) or in a similar role, preferably in the pharmaceutical or healthcare industry.
3. Sound knowledge of German accounting principles, tax regulations and legal requirements.
4. Hands-on experience with accounting software and ERP systems, with knowledge of Odoo preferred.
5. Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to interpret financial data and identify trends.
6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and departments.
7. Proactive attitude with a drive for continuous improvement and delivering results in a fast-paced environment.
8. Fluency in German and English is required.
