Job summary

IO Associates partners with a deep-tech scale-up in Bochum, Germany, seeking a Senior Accountant to anchor day-to-day accounting. You will report to the Head of Finance and ensure accurate bookkeeping, timely closings, and compliant financial statements.

The role is hands-on, with duties including bookkeeping, monthly and annual closing support, and process improvements as the company scales. German accounting standards knowledge and Wirtschaftsprüfer experience are valued but not essential.

Qualifications

• Strong, reliable bookkeeping skills with a good understanding of German accounting standards (GAAP).
• Wirtschaftsprüfer experience is valued but not essential; consultancy background is a plus.
• Structured, accurate and comfortable working independently.

We are partnering with a deep-tech scale-up in Bochum that is building out its finance team as the business grows. You will report to the Head of Finance and this position will anchor the day-to-day accounting.

This is a hands‑on role. The priority is someone who can book things accurately and keep the books in good order, and Wirtschaftsprüfer-level experience is a welcome addition rather than a requirement.

The role

• Own day-to-day bookkeeping and financial accounting
• Support monthly and annual closing and the preparation of financial statements
• Work closely with the Head of Finance to improve processes and controls as the company scales

About you

• Strong, reliable bookkeeping skills with a good understanding of German accounting standards
• Wirtschaftsprüfer experience is valued but not essential. A Consultancy background is a plus
• Structured, accurate and comfortable working independently
• Strong German and good English
