PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES

Cryptography is central to information security and compliance. SAP is committed to using advanced cryptographic functions and libraries, preparing for future challenges like quantum computing. We are establishing a centralized Cryptography Center of Excellence (CCoE) within SAP’s Global Security and Cloud Compliance organization to lead company-wide cryptography initiatives.

What you’ll do

As a Security Architect specializing in applied cryptography, you will help establish the CCoE and contribute to cryptographic solutions that meet customer needs and regulatory standards. Your role includes monitoring emerging threats, addressing customer concerns, collaborating across teams, developing cryptographic strategies, maintaining asset inventories, creating reference architectures, leading pilot projects, and serving as a cryptography expert.

• Monitor cryptographic threats, including quantum threats, and adapt SAP’s systems accordingly.
• Enhance customer satisfaction by addressing key cryptographic concerns such as key management, HSM support, and confidential computing.
• Collaborate with teams to ensure compliance with regulations and customer requirements.
• Develop and implement cryptographic strategies focused on agility and security.
• Use SBOM tools to inventory cryptographic assets.
• Create reference architectures and facilitate deployment across teams.
• Lead pilot projects to test cryptographic solutions and foster innovation.
• Promote the use of validated cryptographic libraries, including NIST FIPS 140-3 standards.
• Provide subject matter expertise in applied cryptography to stakeholders and product teams.

What you bring

• Advanced degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or related field.
• 3-5+ years of experience in IT security and cryptography.
• Experience leading projects and teams with a focus on security and cryptography.
• Deep knowledge of cryptographic algorithms, protocols, and systems.
• Understanding of quantum computing impacts and proactive strategies.
• Familiarity with global cryptography standards like NIST FIPS 140-3.
• Experience with cloud security concepts.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Fluent in English; German is a plus.
