THE ROLE :

To help us lead the future of commercial aircraft modification in Boeing EASA Modifications, we are seeking applicants for Seat Stress Engineers (Junior or Experienced) (Part 21J EASA Modifications) (Hamburg Germany) (M / F / D) to join our rapidly expanding world-class team within our Part 21J Design Organization. We will support you to develop your skills and encourage you to reach your career goals.

The successful candidate will support the certification of large aircraft modification within the fields of seat integration for our global airline partners to demonstrate compliance with relevant regulatory and customer requirements and procedures defined in the company's Design Organization Handbook (DOH).

This role is based in our BGS EASA Modifications site in Hamburg Germany with hybrid working options.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Reporting to the Structures Engineering Manager and working with the global engineering services team across multiple time zones to identify requirements and their associated solutions for active and upcoming projects.
  • Experience in certification activities to ensure compliance with design related to seat certification and installation.
  • Compile and review structural substantiation documents related to:

Product certification and integration to the aircraft of:

Seating installations (economy, premium economy, business, and first-class seats including first-class suites and seat furniture).

  • LRU installations on seat level.
  • Performing hand calculations and FE calculations within the fields of linear, nonlinear, and multibody dynamic simulation.
  • Support other Boeing representatives during customer meetings such as ITCM, PDR, CDR, and FAI in support of active and upcoming projects. Provide additional onsite support to assist the customers during the embodiment phase of the project.

This role will require occasional national and/or international travel to visit teammates, customers, and subcontractors.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Bachelor's Degree within Stress/Structures/Mechanical or Aerospace/Aeronautical Engineering.
  • 2 years of relevant experience.

PREFERRED SKILLS / EXPERIENCE :

  • Current or recent employment within the aerospace industry specifically working with an EASA Part 21J Design Organisation (or equivalent) is desired.
  • Experience within (E)TSO program of seat development and certification from beginning to approval including test witnessing is desired.
  • Basic/good knowledge and experience of EASA regulatory and airworthiness requirements including (E)TSO, CS25, JAR25, and FAR25 requirements including related ACs and AMCs (relevant to 25.562).
  • Capability in hand calculations and FEA including linear, nonlinear, and/or multibody dynamic analysis.
  • A high level of attention to detail and professional integrity.
  • Ability to efficiently and effectively work on multiple programmes with varying level of requirements.
  • Ability to prioritise workloads and show flexibility to changing situations/demands.
  • Ability to work effectively with colleagues and customers to embody the core values of the business: Honesty, Integrity, and Transparency.
  • Willing and able to help develop, mentor, and coach less experienced staff.
  • Experience navigating OEM data systems for specifications and standards.
  • 4 years of relevant experience.
