Your mission

You will be part of the team that oversees the Network Engineering of Rivada’s carrier network. Your mission is to strengthen our team as a Network Engineer in the planning and design of the SDN-based control and management architecture and its implementation. You will ensure that the system is highly reliable, secure, fully automated and optimised for service quality and platform utilisation.
This includes:

• Design of system-level SDN architecture
• Definition of interfaces to neighbouring functions
• Deriving implementation requirements for the SDN system
• Design of subcomponents (e.g. controller) and defining their requirements
• Supporting the implementation process
• Make-or-buy evaluations, Supplier management
• Technical steering of development activities
• Support software development process appropriate for system needs
• Prototyping and testing
• Lead test and acceptance process, contributing to system rollout
• Define test equipment, reporting tools, visualisation capabilities
• Continuous Innovation
• Design path management algorithms for a complex network where the paths require dynamic updates
• Provide ongoing optimisation and enhancement activity, leading the evolution of the path management
• Evolve SDN architecture
• Support network operations
• Support the development of operations scenarios
• Support analysis and reports of service performance and service assurance
• Troubleshooting support

What you bring on the table

• Experience in system management in an operational environment.
• A degree in telecommunication, electrical engineering or computer science
• At least 3 years of experience working in a telecoms environment
• At least 1 year working on SDN architectures
  • Excellent system level architecture expertise
  • Deep-dive SDN controller and element know how
• Hands-on SDN controller development experience is a plus
• Experience with MPLS L2 and L3 VPNs, LDP and MPLS Traffic Engineering
• Skills in routing protocols (OSPF, BGP, EIGRP) and Spanning Tree Protocol
• Software platform and development knowledge
  • Agile development approach
  • Platform virtualisation, containers
• Fluency in English language
