The facility hosts the PETRA III storage ring and the FLASH free-electron laser, providing unique photon sources for research. PETRA III offers one of the world's brightest hard X-ray sources, with 23 beamlines for diverse experiments. The upcoming P25 beamline aims to support industrial applications and technological advancements, working alongside beamline P02.1.

Position Responsibilities:
  • Develop and commission a fully automated powder diffraction end station at P25 in collaboration with scientists and engineers.
  • Provide user support at P25 and P02.1 beamlines.
  • Operate and support powder diffraction and PDF experiments, collaborating with international users and industry partners.
  • Contribute to in-house research projects in powder diffraction or total scattering.

Candidate Profile:
  • Higher education in physics, materials science, or related fields (Master's/Diploma) or equivalent experience.
  • PhD in chemistry, physics, materials science, or similar qualification.
  • Experience with beamline instrumentation and data collection at third-generation synchrotrons.
  • Data analysis experience in powder diffraction or total scattering experiments.
  • Knowledge in pharmacy, catalytic or gas sorption studies, and battery materials.
  • Experience in automated experiment design and operation.
  • Basic programming skills, preferably in Python.
  • Excellent English communication skills.
