The Leibniz-Institut für Analytische Wissenschaften - ISAS - e. V. develops efficient analytical methods for health research. Thus, it contributes to the improvement of the prevention, early diagnosis, and therapy of diseases like cardiovascular diseases or cancer. Overall, the institute strives to advance precision medicine by combining knowledge from different fields such as biology, chemistry, computer science, medicine, pharmacology, and physics. ISAS is a member of the Leibniz Association and is publicly funded by the Federal Republic of Germany and its federal states.

At our location in Dortmund, we invite applications for a

Scientist / Postdoc (m/f/d): Preclinical Metabolomics

You will be responsible for

  • Studying the development and metabolism of lymph nodes through melanoma metastasis
  • Biochemical and histopathological characterization of tumor cells in tissues using chemical and fluorescence staining
  • Handling in vivo and in vitro models to test research hypothesis and refine study designs
  • Studying small molecule metabolite alterations of tumorous material by mass spectrometry imaging
  • Quantification of corresponding metabolites using liquid chromatography mass spectrometry
  • Data analysis of sequencing and microscopy data Data analysis of mass spectrometry data

Your profile

  • PhD in Biology, Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry or related subjects
  • Good understanding of tools such cell cultures, histopathology, microscopy, and/or chromatography
  • Hands-on experience with mass spectrometers is a plus
  • Excellent English communication and writing skills
  • Basic understanding of cancer biology is preferable

The salary will be according to the German TV-L. The full-time position is offered for three 3 years. The position is available immediately. The time limitation of the contract is based on the Wissenschafts-zeitvertragsgesetz (WissZeitVG).
