Main tasks
The UKE Microscopy Imaging Facility (umif) Of The Dean's Office Provides Researchers At The UKE With Access To Highly Developed Imaging Systems And Technical Know-how. We Are Looking For a Scientist To Support The Facility With The Following Tasks
- Close technical collaboration with the UKE research community
- Development of the latest imaging protocols and experiment designs
- Training on different microscopy platforms
- Implementation of light microscopy seminars and workshops
- Ensuring the maintenance and further development of the core facility equipment
The position is initially limited to two years as part of a project. An extension is envisaged.
Your Profile
- Completed scientific university studies in the natural sciences with a doctorate, preferably in areas such as biophysics, cell biology, biochemistry, microbiology, bioengineering or equivalent skills and experience
- Understanding and practical experience in the use of optical microscopy and imaging systems as well as the latest microscopy techniques
- Deep knowledge of sample preparation techniques for light microscopy
- Very good command of written and spoken English
- Ability to communicate in German, especially with technicians and service staff
- Experience in data analysis and quantification as well as programming skills (e.g. Matlab) are desirable
- Experience with website design and remote access programs e.g. Anydesk is desirable
- Ability to teach complex ideas to non-specialists
- Work experience in a dynamic environment
- High level of interpersonal skills and independence
