The Fraunhofer Institute for Molecular Biology and Applied Ecology IME conducts applied life sciences from molecules to ecosystems. The branch of Bioresources offers a diverse and challenging field of work in a stimulating and interdisciplinary research environment with excellent infrastructure and many industrial cooperation partners.

What you will do

1. Develop and implement methods for analysing genomic, proteomic and metabolomic datasets
2. Collaborate with other researchers and industry partners to manage and interpret big data
3. Write research papers based on bioinformatics analyses and present results at conferences
4. Apply for external funding to support ongoing research

What you bring to the table

1. A Master’s degree in bioinformatics or a related subject in the life, natural or computational sciences
2. A PhD or equivalent in bioinformatics, computational biology or molecular biology
3. Practical experience with programming, machine learning, statistical analyses of big data and bioinformatics tools and software
4. Very good communication and organisational skills, ability to work both independently and as part of a team
5. Very good written and spoken English
6. Good track record of scientific publications and research funding
