Jobbeschreibung

Nanogami is a highly innovative and rapidly growing startup in the field of DNA Origami-based nanotechnology (check out our DLD Talk or this article to learn more). Our international team is driven by a shared vision: to pioneer a novel generation of biochips set to unlock applications in research and diagnostics and thereby pushing the boundaries of personalised medicine to new heights. We recently secured significant funding by SPRIND - Germany's Federal Agency for Disruptive Innovation to realize our ambitious growth trajectory and now aim to significantly expand our current team to support the at-scale commercialisation of our nanotechnology.

Join us as Bioconjugation & Diagnostics Assay Development Scientist (m/w/d) to help shape the future of proteomics.

You will be working in cross-functional teams to develop and optimize protein bioconjugation and DNA origami surface immobilization strategies. You'll own your experiments end-to-end, using covalent binding methods and biophysical tools like AFM, optical microscopy, and mass photometry to analyze and refine your work.

Your Role:

  • Independently develop and optimize protein bioconjugation strategies, with a focus on protein-DNA and protein-small molecule conjugates, particularly involving antibodies
  • Develop and set up the coupling and immobilization protocols of protein-DNA conjugates, with a focus on antibodies
  • Set up systems and workflows for purification, characterization and functional assays of custom nanostructures functionalised with various proteins, in particular antibodies
  • Stay up-to-date with state-of-the-art assay technology and share expertise with various project teams
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of scientists and engineers to optimize biochip performance
  • Manage R&D projects with a high level of autonomy and initiative, within the constraints of a start-up environment

Requirements

  • Ph.D. (or M.Sc. with extensive industry experience) in Chemistry, Biochemistry, (Molecular) Biology, or a related field
  • Extensive expertise in bioconjugation of proteins, in particular antibodies, to DNA or small molecules in the context of assay development
  • Proficiency in purification, characterization and functional assays of proteins and protein conjugates using techniques such as affinity chromatography, IE-HPLC, SEC, Western Blots and various activity assays
  • Creative, proactive, and results-oriented mindset
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Fluent in English

Optional:

  • Industry experience in e.g. ELISA assay development, ideally in the context of medical diagnostics
  • Proficiency in bioconjugation to surfaces and/or nanoparticles
  • Experience in designing, production or characterization DNA nanostructures

Benefits

  • Shape the future of diagnostics - be at the forefront of the development of our products
  • State-of-the-art technology package
  • Accelerated career trajectory
  • Competitive compensation and benefits structure
  • An international, collaborative, and supportive work culture
  • Flexible working models
