The Institute of Solid State Physics seeks to fill the position of a

Scientific Employee for Ion Beam Physics

We offer an unlimited, full-time position (40 hours per week).

The respective group ( https://www.nano.uni-jena.de/ ) uses ion beams in a variety of ways to manipulate or analyse the properties of solids. We also investigate the basic mechanisms in the interaction of energetic ions with materials, and in the scientific environment of the city of Jena we concentrate on the optical properties of irradiated solids. Together with this team, you ensure the scientific coordination of the accelerator facilities and significantly support coordinated projects of the group, such as in the IRTG 2675 "Tailored metasurfaces" ( https://www.asp.uni-jena.de/irtg2675 ) or in the SFB 1375 "Non-linear optics down to atomic scales" ( https://www.noa.uni-jena.de/ ).

Your responsibilities:

    • Scientific coordination of the ion accelerators ROMEO and JULIA
    • Supervision of Bachelor-, Master- and PhD-students
    • Support in acquiring projects and in teaching (8 SWS)
    • Management of the lab course in nuclear physics
    • Organization of radiation safety and protection
    • Work on an own scientific qualification project - e.g. "Habilitation"\
Your profile:
    • University degree (master's degree) with focus on Physics
    • Doctoral degree
    • Knowledge in ion beam physics
    • Very good skills in English and sufficient skills in German
    • Ideally, you have experience with optical materials and knowledge on radiation protection

    • Remuneration based on the provisions of the Collective Agreement for the Public Sector of the Federal States (TV-L) at salary scale TVL-E13 - depending on the candidate's personal qualifications-, including a special annual payment in accordance with the collective agreement.

This is a full-time position (40 hours per week).
