Qualifikationen

Safety and Reliability Engineer Controls (f/m/d)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Safety and Reliability Engineer Controls (f/m/d) to join Rolls-Royce Deutschland in Dahlewitz near Berlin.

This role provides the opportunity to ensure, at all phases of an aero gas turbine lifecycle, that the Safety & Reliability attributes of the product are understood and that the risks arising from it are managed to an acceptable level. Contribute to the capability acquisition/improvement as well as to the technical and process governance of the S&R capability.

Our headquarters in Dahlewitz near Berlin are home to the company's Development, Assembly and Customer Service units as well as central administrative and strategic departments.

Key Accountabilities:
  • Understand possible degradations and potential failure mechanisms of a gas turbine's control system, the associated consequences of the resulting failure modes and the hazards they contribute to. Where applicable, develop and deploy models to characterize them using deterministic or probabilistic/data mining techniques.
  • Lead and conduct the assessment of new and derivative design solutions/architectures, product operation and maintenance practices to evaluate their impact on product Safety. Develop and deploy models at software, component, system and asset levels in order to characterize the product's Safety attributes. Support the associated part/function classification activities.
  • Extract actionable insights from these analyses and generate improvement proposals in order to influence the product's design, its development and its in-service management.
  • Support product development, entry into service and in-service phases through the coordination, provision and/or update of Safety & Reliability documentation (e.g. FHA, FMECA, SSA, TLD, safety class analysis, fault schedules, OCL, etc).
  • Coordinate with customers, suppliers and regulatory authorities on Safety & Reliability matters on behalf of the specific specialist discipline.
Qualifications and Skills:
  • Bachelor's degree, Master's or PhD (or regional equivalent qualification) in Engineering, Computer Science or Math.
  • Good understanding of control systems or embedded systems and ability to apply logical, analytical and innovative thinking on a range of technical problems.
  • Technical experience in the deployment of Safety & Reliability tools and methods or interest in this area.
  • Ideally knowledge of one of the following: ARP4761, ARP4754A, DO-178C, DO-160, DO-254 or safety standards from other industries, e.g. ISO26262. Knowledge and experience of aerospace certification frameworks would be a plus.
  • Fluent English skills.
