Our team in Amazon Robotics develops high-performance, real-time robotic systems capable of perceiving, learning, and acting intelligently alongside humans—at Amazon scale. Our mission is to enable robots to interact safely, efficiently, and fluently with the clutter and uncertainty of real-world fulfillment centers.

Amazon Robotics is seeking a motivated and hands-on Software Test Engineer. Do you want to ensure that the code we deliver is secure, stable, testable, and maintainable? Do you enjoy working on automation frameworks in a team environment? Do you have experience leading test engineers and system operators to collect and evaluate real-world data? In this role, you will use state-of-the-art technology to solve complex problems and see the impact of your work firsthand.

Key job responsibilities

1. Architect, design, and implement automated tests for robotic software applications, infrastructure, and tools.
2. Create robust, high-quality, well-tested software tests to interface with robots, control sensors, actuators, and other hardware.
3. Coordinate and analyze hardware-in-the-loop experiments.
4. Collaborate with stakeholders across hardware, science, and operations teams.
5. Profile, tune, and optimize system performance.
6. Participate in reviews, design for fault tolerance and operational excellence, and develop mechanisms for continuous improvement.

Grundqualifikationen

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science/Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, or equivalent.
• Technical leadership experience in testing robotic software, firmware, industrial control systems, or automotive software.
• Proficiency with professional software engineering practices and the full software lifecycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing, and operations.
• Experience with at least one modern programming language such as Python, C++, Java, or Kotlin, including object-oriented design.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills for writing and presenting test reports.

Bevorzugte Qualifikationen

• Master’s or advanced degree in Computer Science/Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, or equivalent.
• Experience in robotics, computer vision, machine learning, sensors, real-time systems, embedded systems, or simulation.
• Experience with interdisciplinary development involving hardware, software, and algorithm co-design.
• Proven experience in incubating and productionizing new technology, working closely with research scientists and technical teams from idea to implementation.
• Experience supporting large-scale infrastructure and tool development for scientific or engineering users.
• Familiarity with AWS services (S3, Lambda, SQS) and architecture paradigms.
• Experience in building, programming, and integrating software and hardware for robotic systems.
