Job summary

Agile Robots SE in Munich is looking for a Robot Service Engineer to keep our robot fleet, teleoperation devices and recording systems operational on site. You will be the first technical contact on site, diagnose and fix issues, perform maintenance and collaborate with R&D to resolve deeper problems quickly.

You bring hands-on experience with electromechanical systems, basic Linux, and clear communication in English to explain technical problems to engineers and non-technical colleagues.

Qualifications

• Hands-on troubleshooting of electromechanical systems, robots or industrial equipment.
• Basic knowledge of Linux, command line tools and reading system logs.
• Structured, independent working with strong attention to detail.
• Good communication skills in English; able to explain technical issues clearly to engineers and non-technical colleagues.

Responsibilities

• On-site first-line technical support for robots, teleoperation devices, cameras and data recording systems.
• Install, set up and calibrate robots and teleoperation workstations for new tasks.
• Escalate complex issues to R&D with clear reproduction steps, logs and data; test software updates on site.
• Ensure robots and equipment are operated in line with safety guidelines; write and update troubleshooting guides and SOPs for the site team.

About the Role

At Agile Robots, we build intelligent robotic systems that learn from high-quality real-world data. To keep our data collection site running at full capacity, we are looking for a Robot Service Engineer (m/f/d) who keeps our robots, teleoperation devices and recording systems operational every day.

In this role, you will be the first technical contact on site. You will diagnose and fix hardware and software issues, maintain the robot fleet, and work closely with our R&D teams to resolve deeper technical problems quickly. Your work directly determines how much usable data the site can produce.

This position is ideal for someone with a hands‑on technical mindset who enjoys troubleshooting, works systematically, and wants to grow with cutting‑edge robotics and AI technology.

Your Responsibilities

• On-site Technical Support
  • Provide daily first-line technical support for robots, teleoperation devices, cameras and data recording systems on site.
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, network and calibration issues to minimize downtime.
  • Support teleoperators and project coordinators with technical questions during data collection.
• Maintenance & System Setup
  • Install, set up and calibrate robots and teleoperation workstations for new tasks.
  • Perform preventive maintenance, replace parts and keep the robot fleet in working condition.
  • Maintain records of faults, repairs and spare parts usage.
• R&D Collaboration & Issue Resolution
  • Escalate complex issues to R&D with clear reproduction steps, logs and data.
  • Test and deploy software updates, fixes and new features on site, and give feedback on results.
  • Identify recurring problems and propose improvements to hardware, software and workflows.
• Safety & Documentation
  • Ensure robots and equipment are operated in line with safety and operational guidelines.
  • Write and update troubleshooting guides, SOPs and setup instructions for the site team.

Essential Skills

• Degree or vocational training in mechatronics, electrical engineering, robotics, computer science or a related field.
• Hands‑on experience troubleshooting electromechanical systems, robots or industrial equipment.
• Basic knowledge of Linux, command line tools and reading system logs.
• Structured, independent way of working with strong attention to detail.
• Good communication skills in English; able to explain technical issues clearly to engineers and non‑technical colleagues.

Beneficial Skills

• Experience with robotic arms, ROS/ROS 2, or teleoperation systems.
• Scripting skills in Python or Bash.
• Knowledge of cameras, sensors, networking or data pipelines.
• Experience in field service, technical support or a production / lab environment.
