Your Role

As a Risk Manager in our risk department supporting energy trading, you will play a key role in the analysis, monitoring, and development of a complex gas portfolio.

  • Close Collaboration with Front Office : Regular exchange on market developments, portfolio drivers, and risk impacts.
  • Risk Analysis & Adjustments : Conduct in-depth risk analyses and implement changes as needed to reflect portfolio risks, ensure data integrity, or align with strategic shifts.
  • Portfolio Oversight (Risk Perspective) : Ensure risk-accurate representation of the portfolio in Endur and related systems by identifying and resolving data, valuation, or modeling issues.
  • Quantitative Modeling & Enhancement : Improve and apply quantitative models to assess valuation and risk metrics of structured gas contracts (e.g. Sigmoid, ToP), supporting more accurate risk representation and decision-making.
  • Reporting & Automation : Maintain and evolve automated reporting (e.g., in Power BI), ensuring relevance and clarity for stakeholders.
  • Portfolio Familiarization & Risk Perspective : With established systems and models in place, you are expected to independently build your understanding and enhance the quality and depth of risk insights over time.
  • Proactive Contribution : Take initiative, contribute your ideas, and actively drive improvements - with support from and in close coordination with your team.

Your Profile :

  • Education : University degree in a relevant field (e.g., Engineering, Economics, Energy Management, (Financial) Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science) or equivalent professional experience.
  • Gas Market Expertise : Solid understanding of gas trading markets, including Sigmoid and ToP contracts, hedging strategies, and options.
  • System Knowledge : Experience with Endur (especially in deal validation and portfolio analysis); familiarity with database systems - Snowflake experience is a plus.
  • Technical Skills : Proficiency in Python for modeling and automation.
  • Reporting Know-how : Basic experience in reporting tools, ideally Power BI.
  • Regulatory Understanding : Solid understanding of risk principles and relevant regulatory frameworks (e.g., MaRisk); ability to apply them pragmatically in a trading context.
  • Languages : Basic German (reading and following conversations), fluent in English.
  • Personality : Communicative, pragmatic, and cooperative - with a strong sense of team responsibility and professionalism.
  • Mobility : Regular on-site presence in Bremen is expected; flexible commuting or partial remote work is possible.

What we offer you :

  • Attractive remuneration package and development opportunities with one of the leading energy companies in Germany
  • Great creative freedom in projects and tasks
  • The opportunity to actively shape the energy transition in the energy trading sector and the further development of EWE TRADING GmbH
