We are currently looking for a Research Scientist for Privacy Preserving AI (m/f/d) to join the Privacy Team at Huawei's Munich Research Center (ERC).

Your role

• Leverage your expertise in AI and Large Language Models (LLMs) to work with privacy professionals in designing and engineering privacy-preserving AI solutions, including generative AI models and LLM agents, ensuring high utility and data confidentiality.
• Stay updated on AI technology trends, especially advancements in LLMs and AIGC, analyzing their impact on privacy.
• Design, develop, empirically evaluate, and optimize prototypes and software related to privacy-preserving AI technologies for Huawei products.
• Contribute to advancing state-of-the-art solutions and translating theoretical research into cutting-edge technologies for future Huawei products.
• Assess the practicality of Privacy Preserving AI technologies across various scenarios, considering functionality, utility, overhead, security, privacy, and risk.

Collaboration and dissemination

• Work with cross-functional teams and communicate findings through conferences, workshops, and publications.

Your expertise

• 2+ years of experience or a PhD in AI/Machine Learning or related fields.
• Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Electrical Engineering, or related disciplines.
• Experience with AI agent frameworks such as LangChain, AutoGen, CrewAI, etc.
• Proficiency with Deep Learning frameworks like TensorFlow, PyTorch, etc.
• Hands-on experience with fine-tuning, alignment, or deploying LLMs for various applications, including NLP, content generation, and privacy-preserving AI.
• Programming skills in Python, Java, or other high-level languages.
• Knowledge of Privacy Enhancing Technologies is a plus.
• Experience with AI agents, RAG, planning in agentic workflows, and efficient on-device LLMs is advantageous.
• A strong publication record is a plus.
• Fluent in written and spoken English.
